During the month of April, I will be participating in the Blogging from A-Z challenge. I've decided to write about 26 words worth dwelling on.
Philippians 4:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
I want to help you think about good things! During this month, I will be doing a daily post highlighting a word to help you reflect positively. Check the bottom of this post each day for the newest link!
Today's word is A and I have chosen the word abiding.
Abiding is my word for 2014 so I thought it a fitting beginning.
Jesus said in the 15th chapter of John,
"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."
Powerful words. Who wouldn't want to be able to ask for your desire and get it?
But, wait a minute. What does it mean to abide?
Abide means to dwell. Dwelling in Jesus. How do you do that? Living in Jesus, to me, means living in His word, being in constant communication with Him, having Him always as my focus.
I also think it means one thing more - resting in Him. Trusting Him to work all things out for your good.
Let's face it, in today's culture, we love the idea of earning blessings. We want to work hard so that God is obligated to make things easy for us.
God has a different idea. He wants us to be so totally tied up in Him that we feel no fear, no pressure to perform, no anxieties that we will end up in need.
No worries, just abiding. Living in total trust.

ReplyDeleteAbiding is a great word for the year and a great word for starting the A/Z Challenge with. I try to live in total trust, I need to totally abide more in Jesus (I'm a work in progress :)

Most people trust themselves too much, which only gets them into trouble. Having someone to rely on can make all the difference.
