In the hustle and bustle of today's world, we all need some quiet and some space to breathe.
How can we ever think or hear from God if there is constant noise surrounding us?
I know people who have the television on constantly as background noise. Then they head to work with the radio on in the car (often blasting so loud I can hear the song in my house as they pass by). At work, there is often constant chatter from co-workers, noise from machinery, or phones ringing.
God tells us, "Be still and know I'm God."* So many that are searching to know the truth just might find it if they were still long enough to listen.
The bible also tells us to be still and commune with ourselves in our bed.* In other words, if you take some time to be quiet and think, an answer just might occur to you.
I'm talking about quiet that lasts more than 15 minutes.
My favorite place to be quiet is beside a lake, river or ocean.
May you find rest for your souls in a quiet place soon.
* Psalm 46:10, Psalm 4:4

Beautiful post, Jerralea. I'm glad I found your post again. I had lost the link. Thanks for the reminder of quietness. Happy Resurrection Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI like the pictures you posted here; very serene areas; good for quiet thinking. You are so true with the words you wrote that people are always connected somehow with technology; I wrote a similar comment on another person's blog who did quiet, we don't have just that quietness to think; some people feel they have to be entertained all the time. I do enjoy my quiet times contemplating and reading God's word.

What a good reminder after some very hectic days indeed. Hope your Easter celebrations had some quiet contemplation as well.
ReplyDeleteBe still and Know...this is my favorite scripture. It has carried me through many a trial.
