October 2018

As my readers may know, I'm recovering from COVID-19. It has been slow; but I am making progress. I thought today's thankfuls could be about the things that helped during my sickness.

1. God's presence: I know He was near. As it says in Psalm 23:1 NLT:

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.

2. My man:  My hubby was there to help wherever possible. He fetched food, water and meds. He drove miles for takeout. He cleaned the kitchen. He was patient while I laid like a statue for hours and hours. He watched endless episodes of "Call the Midwives" on Netflix with me, even though he had to turn his head whenever the babies were delivered. When I began to venture back out into the world, he would drive me to work, not believing I was strong enough to drive. He went to work with me a couple days helping fold newsletters and bulletins.

He deserves many stars added to his heavenly crown!

3. Concern from my friends: I received multiple texts from friends, relatives, my pastors, my boss and my church family asking for updates and assuring me of their prayers for me.

4. Vitamins and supplements: I was counseled to take Zinc, massive amounts of Vitamin C and Vitamin D and Elderberry. Early on, I took the Zinc, C & D; but it was a couple days later when I was able to get Elderberry that I began to finally see improvement.

5. Naps: I'd really never been much of a napper until Rona 2020. Oh, I do consider a Sunday afternoon nap to be sacred; but during weekdays, it was tough to make myself stop and rest. When our work hours were shortened, I'd started laying down to rest; but was often too wound up to actually fall asleep. Now, I find naps are saving me. Not sure I'm ever going to give them up!

What about you? What comforts you when you don't feel well?

Today is day 15 of November and I have determined I will give Him praise for 5 blessings each day of the month. 5 blessings a day X 30 days = 150 praises. 75 praises to date!

You might think coming up with 150 blessings in the month of November is a tall order, but I guarantee you can come up with that many.

Remember, whether big or small, praise Him for them all.

I'd be thrilled if you would like to share in the comments your 5 praises, or a link to your post giving God praise.
He is worthy!

  2. I love that you're being thankful in the midst of the virus. And I'm so thankful for things like vitamins and caring family and friends.

What comforts me are the Psalms or some of the parables of Jesus when I am ill. Also, hot herbal teas and chicken soup!! And my fleece blanket and my hubby rubbing my feet.

I am still praying you make a complete recovery with NO after effects.

  3. Glad to hear you are doing better. I hadn't heard about elderberry. We did up our C and D3.

  4. Glad to hear you are doing better. Interesting point about elderberry. We had been taking it regularly for a couple of years, but stopped when we learned that it could bring about the cytokine storm with covid.

  6. So glad you are recovering. Your husband deserves a medal for being so helpful and such a devoted care-giver. What helps me when I am sick are naps. And more naps.
