Praise Post #7 - 2020

October 2014

Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen." 2 Peter 3:18 NLT

For the believer, we live in a time of unparalleled access to resources to help us in our Chrisitan walk. I am so thankful for these!

I'm a serious bible enthusiast. I want to learn more and more; but what is vitally important is that I learn to apply my knowledge to my life.

Before we end our time together in giving praises at the end of the month, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt there will be more praises on this subject. But, for today, here are 5 things I use almost daily to help me grow spiritually. I praise God for His provision for these resources.

1. Bible Gateway: I can not only go to their site and read the Word - for free - in many different translations; but I can also just type in a word and search for scriptures pertaining to that word. This is a tool I do not want to be without. God bless those in charge of Bible Gateway. Click here to visit it.

2. Enduring Word Media: rational, biblical commentary. I consult here often, maybe not daily, but weekly. God bless David Guzik and his team. May their efforts be multiplied. Go here to check them out.

3. Another valuable resource is e-Sword, a free resource you can download here for studying the bible. I love it because the King James+ version of the bible has the Strong's Dictionary numbers after every word. You can click on it to go to the dictionary which will tell you the meaning of each Greek or Hebrew word. English does not often have a word that means the same thing as the original language. It's like a treasure hunt to find out all that the word embodies!

4. Bible Study Gurus: I love people who inspire me to study the word of God. There are many - and this is the category I'm sure I'll mention again and again. I am open to learning from others, but I only recommend people who I trust.

Today I'm focusing on Arabah Joy. I first met her when she hosted the Grace & Truth link up for bloggers. She is such a woman of the Word. I want to be like her when I grow up. She has a resource, the Love the Word Bible Study Binder, that I've had for a few years now. It speaks to my love of bible study and organizing. She is also the creator of Grace Goals, another resource, which I'm eagerly awaiting. A planner may, or may not be, included. *wink

5. Another spiritual discipline I practice is Scripture Writing. There are several people who put out a monthly list of scriptures, usually on a certain topic, for you to use as a guide for writing a passage of scripture daily. (The Love the Word Bible Study Binder has a Scripture writing list for each month within its pages - just sayin'.)  Shannan at Sweet Blessings puts out a great Scripture Writing Page each month. This month's topic is "repentance." Ut-oh. I thought it would be gratitude ...

Again, we are blessed to live in a time when such resources are readily available. We should not be ignorant in the Word. We have no excuse with such an abundance of things to help us.

What's your favorite resource?

Today is day 7 of November and I have determined I will give Him praise for 5 blessings each day of the month. 5 blessings a day X 30 days = 150 praises.

You might think coming up with 150 blessings in the month of November is a tall order, but I guarantee you can come up with that many.

Remember, whether big or small, praise Him for them all.

I'd be thrilled if you would like to share in the comments your 5 praises, or a link to your post giving God praise.

He is worthy!
