Resemble

One of the things I enjoyed as a child was the fact I looked like my dad. I adored him and thought he was good looking; so it filled my heart with pride when anyone said, "You look just like your daddy."

Besides our looks, we had a lot of things in common: we could joke around with people at social gatherings, but needed alone time to rejuvenate, we always had an agenda but would get upset when life disrupted our plans, and we both could sleep like a rock, anywhere and anytime.

Now that I'm grown, I realize there is a goal even more important than being like my dad.

It's resembling my heavenly Father. After all, believers are to be Christ's ambassadors; which means other peole look at us when they want to see Jesus in the flesh.

We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him.” 2 Corinthians 5:20 TPT

There's an old saying, you may be the only epistle some people ever read. It doesn't speak so well for Christianity if people know we are Christ-followers; but also know we are sarcastic, rude or always wanting to have the last word.

Jesus invested his time on earth in people. Since I want to resemble him, I need to do the same. This stretches me in unbelievable ways because the truth is I love holing up here at home.

However, there is one thing I can do to invest in people even in those times I don't venture out beyond my front door. I can pray. Intercessory prayer is a gift anyone can give.

My aim for 2021 is to do more interceding. What do you plan to do?

Welcome to Day 22 of the #Write28Days challenge. During the month of February, I'll be examining what my world looks like after 2020. I feel we are ever closer to the Lord's return. What would it look like if I lived everyday with that thought in mind?

This could be my last February 22nd before He comes.

The truth is, it IS the last February 22nd for some, because He comes back every day for somebody.

It could be me. It could be you. It could be every believer.

My prayer is to leave an impact. What about you?

So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you. 1 Peter 1:13 TPT
