F.F.F. - 01.03.14

Welcome to the first Friday's Fave Five of 2014!  I love participating in this blog challenge of finding five highlights of the past week to reflect upon and share.  It cultivates thankfulness and teaches us to number our days.

1. My first highlight of the week actually is F.F.F.  When doing my yearly review of my blog posts, I discovered that 6 of my top 10 blog posts to receive the most page-views ever in my blogging career were F.F.F. posts! I plan to continue writing Friday's Fave blog posts in 2014.  To date, I've written 183 posts expressing at least 5 things I've enjoyed that week.  That's over 915 blessings in my life!

2. The tree is down, decorations put away (except for snowmen who stay out through January) and the new curtains are up!  Everything is looking good, especially when I have all my candles lit.  It fills my heart with joy.

3.  Loving our new Smart TV and netflix this week.  I may or may not have gotten behind in some of my work because of it ...

4.  Our oldest daughter invited us over for a New Year's Eve dinner at her new home.  It's nice to have someone else cook for a change.  She made these biscuits that are like the cheese-garlic biscuits you get at Red Lobster.  They were excellent!

5. In lieu of sharing a quote of the week I'm sharing a word of the year.  I've chosen the word "abiding," for my One Word for 2014.  I chose this word because I want this scripture to be evident in my life during 2014:

John 15:7  New King James Version (NKJV)

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

And so ends another week on the Journey.  How did YOUR week go?  Leave a comment or link up at Susanne's blog, "Living to Tell the Story."

  1. It is always great to read your FFF! What is a smart tv? Like I said in my FFF, I have lived in the stone ages for a long time...:)

  2. I've seen recipes for those biscuits - nice to know they taste good! And it is nice to have someone else cook some times.

We have the Christmas stuff put away and I am eager to dive into some projects that were set aside before Christmas, and some that have been waiting to be started for some time.

  3. I put my Christmas decorations up yesterday and I'm so glad. I didn't put much out to start with this year, so it didn't take me too long. Isn't it fun when our kids invite US over? I love that too. Wished my daughter lived closer to do it more often. hehe.

Love your One Word. Great choice. I'll look forward to hearing how God uses "abiding" in your life this year. Happy New Year!

  4. Hmmm, I may have to find that biscuit recipe. My mom loves Red Lobster strictly for those biscuits! Aren't these Fives wonderful? I'm so glad you are participating in it. Blessings to you for an abiding 2014.

  5. You and Faith both have chosen wonderful words to focus on for the year!

I love those biscuits from Red Lobster! All my Christmas decorations are packed away. I love them but by January 1st, I'm ready for a bit less of a cluttered look.

I always enjoy your fave five posts and I love that you've stuck with me and have been writing them for so long!

  6. I love that you've broken down how many blessings you've shared. I am going to have a look too. I imagine it will encourage me to check.

Keeping your snowmen out for January is a nice idea. I think I will copy this idea too for next year.

I like the feel, smell, and look of candles as well. :)

Hope you have a happy and joyful weekend, Jerralea.

  7. My decorations are down but not put away--I plan to do that today.
Dinner at your daughter's sounds wonderful--isn't it great to see your kids growing up and becoming adults?
Love your One Word for 2014. I've yet to choose mine.

  8. First time over from Susanne's Fave Five. I love your One Word- abide! Never thought to do that- will definitely think on it. And how wonderful to be able to look back and see nearly 1,000 blessings written down to remind you of God's faithfulness. :o)
