Friday's Fave 5 - May 22, 2009

Another Friday has rolled around, so it's time for Friday's Fave Five - a look back at our week through listing five of our favorite things.

The week started out with some troubling issues to work through. When you have a week like that, it is sometimes hard to think about favorite things. If you really think about it, though, you can find lots of good things even in the midst of trying times.

1. Among the issues we had to deal with over the weekend was the installation of our new vanity and sink. All these years, we have only had a very small pedestal-type sink in our bathroom. Finally! A new vanity with a top where I could lay my glasses down when washing my face! That part was a favorite. The part where the sink had a couple holes in the part the drain fit into? Not so favorite ... We had purchased the sink and vanity at a town over 45 miles away, so we had to schlepp the sink back and exchange it.

2. The bright spot of the day? Since we had to travel to take back the sink, we figured we might as well stop at our favorite pizza place. Their specialty pizza with the unusual ingredient of apple slices is to die for!

3. On Tuesday, our daughters' school hosted their annual Spring Concert that showcases the band and chorus. I like going every year to watch my daughter perform, naturally, but also it is fun to see how the kids have grown and their wacky outfits (and their families' attire as well). It is amazing to me what people will wear in public!

4. All week, the hubby and I have been trying to work into our schedule bike rides with our new bikes. Last night, we rode 5 miles on our bikes. I think that's a pretty good start! As we rode along, the air was filled with the fragrance of honeysuckle. An added bonus!

5. New favorite quote: "Your faith has no influence if you don't have a lovewalk." -Joyce Meyer. This was timely for me to hear. No matter how upsetting circumstances may be, I must walk in love if I want to influence others for Christ.

  1. Great fave five this week. New sink and vanity--even with the need for an exchange--is a good thing. Thanks for the reminder to 'walk in love'--I needed that reminder. And yes, The Professor planned his electronics adventure for the days I was gone.

  2. I'm sorry you had troubles this week, Jerri! Good for you to find the nuggets of blessings in the midst of a hard time.

I'd say 5 miles for a beginning ride is AWESOME!!! I don't think I could make half a mile on a bike!

God Bless you this next week

  3. What a great FFF. The exercising is the best. You are going to be as fit as a fiddle in no time...not saying that you weren't already of course. LOL. Glad you got a new sink and vanity. Have a great weekend and a very Happy Memorial Day :)

  4. Pizza with apples, that sounds fun. Good for you getting a new vanity, those little things make such a difference.

And good work exercising, that always makes us feel better.

  5. I was listening to Joyce this week and was reminded of that quote, too! I must really need it since I've now heard it and seen it in two places. ;-)

    Blessings,
    Lisa

  6. Mmm . . . I'm imagining the bike ride with the scent of honeysuckle! What a lovely memory. Great quote from JM!

    Happy Weekend!

  7. I am sorry the week started out so rough, but how great you found five good things in it!

I use my vanity a lot -- I'd have trouble, too with a pedestal sink and nowhere to place things. Glad the excursion to exchange the sink had a fun outing to the pizza place added on.

Kid's programs are so special, and congrats for riding your bike so much!

    Have a great weekend!

  8. Apples on a pizza?! Now that is a new one to me.

I can totally relate to a pedestal sink with no vanity. We finally changed ours in the downstairs bathroom and it is sooo much better.

Glad you played along still and looked for some favorites even though you had a rougher week. That's what it's all about!

  9. Good job in finding the silver lining in the cloud -- stopping for pizza when you had to return the sink!

  11. Wonderful list. New vanity, pizza stop, bike rides and concerts. You did have a good week.
And the quote - oh how true. That was a good reminder for me.
I hope you are having a great weekend.
