What's your profession?
Webster defines profession as "a principal calling, vocation, or employment" or an "act of openly declaring or publicly claiming a belief, faith, or opinion."
I think most people think of profession as a word used when referring to their career or work place; but today I want to talk about profession in regards to faith.
Believers know about the Apostles Creed and the Christian tradition that I am from profess the 16 Fundamental Truths. (I believe both of them.)
Truth is, every organization will have defining statements of their beliefs and purposes.
What is your profession of faith right now, here in 2021, after the ravages of COVID and political unrest?
Here are mine:
1. God is in control. He is sovereign. He is still on the throne. And nothing takes Him by surprise.
16 For through the Son everything was created, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen. Every seat of power, realm of government, principality, and authority—it was all created through him and for his purpose! 17 He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in him. Colossians 1:16-17 TPT
2. The kingdom of God is unshakeable. God is not shook up. I feel this is a good place for a James Bryan Smith quote:
"I am one in whom Christ dwells and delights. I live in the strong and unshakeable Kingdom of God, the kingdom is not in trouble and neither am I."
This world seems crazy and sometimes we feel the church is in trouble; especially in the potential loss of religious freedoms. But not to worry!
Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakeable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe. Hebrews 12:28 TPT
Instead of worrying right now in 2021, we need to be thankful and worshipful and surrender to whatever He asks of us. I can't speak for everyone; but I feel He wants me to just keep on keeping on. Keep praising. Keep studying. Keep sharing every nugget I come across.
3. God is good. All the time.
For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you.
He’s so loving that it will amaze you—
so kind that it will astound you!
And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all.
Everyone knows our God can be trusted,
for he keeps his promises to every generation! Psalm 100:5 TPT
Am I prophesying a life of ease? No way. He said persecutions would come. I'm just saying He is at work in the believers' lives and will always make a way for them.
4. He is the Good Shepherd; therefore, I have what I need. There is no lack in my life.
The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd.
I always have more than enough.Psalm 23:1 TPT
5. Goodness and mercy are chasing me down.
So why would I fear the future?
For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life.
Then afterward, when my life is through,
I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!Psalm 23:6 TPT
A couple years ago, I felt God ask me what if I really believed goodness and mercy was going to chase me down. Since then, I'm always on the lookout for signs of goodness and mercy. Then I do my best to share them at Testimony Time at my church home and every chance I get here on the blog.
Everyone needs to know He is alive and interested in YOU!
Welcome to Day 17 of the #Write28Days challenge. During the month of February, I'll be examining what my world looks like after 2020. I feel we are ever closer to the Lord's return. What would it look like if I lived everyday with that thought in mind?
This could be my last February 17th before He comes.
The truth is, it IS the last February 17th for some, because He comes back every day for somebody.
It could be me. It could be you. It could be every believer.
My prayer is to leave an impact. What about you?
So then, prepare your hearts and minds for action! Stay alert and fix your hope firmly on the marvelous grace that is coming to you. For when Jesus Christ is unveiled, a greater measure of grace will be released to you. 1 Peter 1:13 TPT

You have asked a most thought provoking question >> "What is your profession of faith right now, here in 2021, after the ravages of COVID and political unrest?" I have constantly said, "God is good and all that He does is good, even now."
ReplyDeleteI had someone ask me on my teaching team why i havent struggled with anxiety this past year....(2020 i mean). The person told me I'm always so peaceful (not really but maybe with the students i am!). so I replied that 1. Covid is here. Practice the CDC guidelines and don't panic. 2. I trust God. I know and believe He is in control of my life. If i get covid, I'll deal with it. If I don't I will carry on my duties to the best of my abilities. 3. the power of prayer. HUGE in maintaining peace.
