I'm participating in Five Minute Friday this week, and our word is "guide." As always, I like to lead off my FMF post with the very first thought that comes in my mind, which this time was actually a line in the song, God is Good All the Time:
Take a listen and see if you can identify the line that mentions guide: (subscribers will need to click through my blog to see the actual YouTube Video.)
"He will guide you; He will keep you safe and sound."
And now, my five minutes of writing on the word "guide":
GO
In the last couple of years, our church board, of which I am a part, has had to make some tough decisions. We have prayed, and fasted, and had special prayer meetings. When options with no clear directives from the Word are presented, what are we supposed to do?
I've often joked, "Why doesn't God just send us a fax?"
Indeed.
Recently we had a thorny issue. We took a vote. 5 for, 2 against. So, going with the majority, the board decided to proceed. Guess what? In the end, things turned out the way the nay-sayers wanted.
This just proves to me that when you are seeking God and doing the best you can, He will make things turn out the way it should be.
He is our guide, and if we get sidetracked and go off the path, He is large enough, wise and powerful enough to get us back where we need to be.
Safe under His guidance.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.Even when I walk through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. (Psalm 23:3-4 NLT)
Why worry? He's got this.
STOP

It's so good to be reminded through song, through His word, and through blog posts that God's got this!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you,

I love that if we're really seeking God we can trust him to guide us even if his will doesn't seem clear at the time. Visiting from FMF #13.

ReplyDeleteThis was encouraging!
If you get lost, you can always be found...
I loved reading this and listening to the song...thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! God truly is in control no matter which way we turn. I'm trying daily to further integrate that into my heart and mind, so that it is my default thinking in times of trouble and testing. Thanks for sharing your heart, Jerralea! It's been nice to meet you!
