F.F.F. - 12.18.15

Hey! Although it is a busy day, I have to drop in and greet you and share 5 highlights of my week. They are always there, you just might have to search for them.

1. The hubs and I have a lovely tradition where we end our days by watching a show - either Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune that we have recorded on the DVR - and sipping on nice hot beverage. (Of course, in the summer, it's sweet tea, iced!) Right now, I'm on a hot cocoa kick with a satisfying dollop of whipped cream on top. Love!

2. Can I just say I love me some Hershey's milk chocolate? It makes the days sweeter. (It's no coincidence that my top two faves have chocolate in them.)

3. This week, I thought I could finish up Philippians 4 at our midweek bible study, but no - it's so rich and has some of my all time favorite scriptures:  Philippians 4:8, 4:13 and let's don't forget 4:19. Love it!

4. This week Daniel has been home on leave. He gets to stay til January 10. It's so good for his little family to be together! I'm happy for my daughter to have this time with him.

5. Quote of the week:  I just read this and it so resonated with me:

I needed to remember that Christmas is about a Promise kept and Kingdom that’s coming.~ Alicia Bruxvoort, The One Party You Won’t Want to Miss This Christmas
Read the rest here.
And so ends this week on the Journey. No time for pics - but hope to have lots to share with you later. How did YOUR week go? Please share in the comments or link up your own post over at Susanne's space, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. I like you and your hubby's nightly tradition :) And of course anything with chocolate goes over here great as well :) It is nice that your son in law will have a nice break to be able to spend with his family :)

  5. Chocolate is a fave of mine too and could always make my weekly FFF. How sweet that your your hot chocolate drinking is paired with time with your husband.

I agree about Philippians 4 being so rich. The verses you linked to bring such comfort and TRUTH.

I love your quote. I am glad I read the rest of the article that you linked to. I was especially moved by,"The “holiday spirit” on that very first Christmas wasn’t fueled by sale prices or Santa hats, by office parties or tinseled trees; it was propelled by praise."
    Amen.

Have a very merry Christmas, Jerralea.

  6. that's a great quote! thanks for sharing it. And we have a tradition too.....we like, in the winter months, to do "family movie nights" on Sat or Sun evenings. We don't do the hot cocoa though...my youngest is totally into water with lemon, I like a good strong cup of coffee (if I drink it before 8:30 pm) and my husband likes either a glass of wine or decaf coffee. We tend to avoid sugar in the winter months due to it making us sluggish and gives us added pounds (and because during the holidays we eat cookies or fudge!! :D) but once in a great while, I will splurge and have a hot cup of cocoa with a cinnamon stick...yum!! Yay for Small group studies, scriptures and family being together. Enjoy the Christmas season.

  7. Ah, Jerri, that hot cocoa sounds wonderful. I have just discovered that the office coffee machine (one of those Flavia systems) makes a killer mocha espresso. Your mention of hot cocoa makes me want to go make one now!

A wonderful gift of time with loved ones -- so glad Daniel could have some time at home.

What a wonderful wonderful quote. I'm so looking forward to that New Earth kingdom. Happy Christmas, Jerri!

  8. I'm so glad your son in law is home for a couple of weeks! Tell him thank you for serving. It has been a few years since my boys have been deployed...
Cocoa? Now I want one too!
Philippians is wonderful, isn't it? The epistle of JOY!

  10. Wonderful tradition. I love hot mint tea in the winter evenings! My daughter made a mexican hot chocolate last night that was tasty. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Jerri. So glad your daughter's hubby is able to be home for the holidays.
