Barn Collective # 21

In a little town in our county stands an abandoned building with an attached silo.  Though technically not a barn, I feel sure it once stored grain.

Though rusty and looking like nature had distressed its exterior, it is adorned by a barn quilt.

I wonder why a donkey was chosen for this quilt?

That old truck has been sitting there for as long as I can remember. It's like the driver was going to pick up one last load of grain to take to market ... but, forget about it, what was the point? Might as well quit right now. And so he did.

Of course, I don't know the real story of the quilt or the old truck parked at the silo. Perhaps I could ask around and find out, but in a way, it's more fun to imagine what happened.

One thing I know, the barn quilt is a new addition over the last couple years, so someone still cares about this building.

Do you like barns?  You can see more great photos of barns at The Barn Collective link-up featured at Rose Street Reflections.

  1. That is a neat building. I always too wonder about things and make up stories in my head about abandoned houses, vehicles, etc.

  2. I love grain buildings, too, not quite as much as barns but almost. I wonder about the donkey in the quilt block, too.
