Daybook: 01.05.15

FOR TODAY, the first Monday in 2015!

Outside my window... a bright cold morning - it's 18°. Brr... The forecast shows some REALLY cold weather coming our way this week ...

I am thinking... it's back to work for me, and I'm getting together my start-of-the-year to-do list. January is an organizer's dream!

I am thankful...to have work that is meaningful to me.

In the kitchen... baked bbq chicken tonight. It is one of my easiest and best meals. I rely on it a lot.

I am wearing... a tunic layered over a tank, double socks, boot socks, leggings and tall boots - it's cold in this block and brick church building.

I am reading... nothing yet, but I just checked out Max Lucado's "Before Amen," and Beverly Lewis' "The River."

Around the house... cozy afghans, wax burners and candles.  I love it!

I am pondering... the fact that the enemy wakes you up in the middle of the night always by telling you did something wrong, or reminding you when something bad has happened.  He never awakens you with the thought, "Boy, I did something good today!"  If you can't sleep because negative thoughts are bombarding you, consider the source.  If you are sinking in thoughts of condemnation, it's not from God.  (Of course sometimes, conviction comes upon you when you know you have messed up. 1 John 1:9 lets us know that can be taken care of right away.)

A favorite quote for today...

Psalm 145:20 says, “The Lord watches over all who love Him (NIV).

I find that such a comforting thought!

One of my favorite things... blogging - after 6 years, I still love it!

A few plans for the rest of the week: leading bible study on Wednesday night, take down the tree, clean out the fridge, and otherwise ease myself back into the groove.

A peek into my day...

Christmas was special because all my kids were home - including these Colorado kids!

  2. Sorry I think we sent the cold weather your way. It is hard to work in a cool building you are wise to bundle up. So cute with your daughter and her family in front of the tree. January is truly a good organizing month indeed.

  6. My wake up time is about 4 am and I have to guard my thoughts so closely when that happens. The enemy loves to taunt me then. Brrr. Sounds like very cold weather! We're going to get into the 30's - cold enough for us! Have a warm, blessed day.

  10. Hi Jerralea! It's cold and snowy today here too. Thank God for furnaces and tea! Loved the photo of your loved ones, Nothing like family, that's for sure. Especially grandchildren.

Good luck with your lists, it's a great blessing to be organized! And I agree with your night thoughts. God doesn't ever shame us, just the evil one. It's a good thing to remember in those cold, dark hours. Thank you!
    Happy New Year!
