B is for Blessing

Today's word for reflection is blessing.

Blessing is definitely a positive word to focus your thoughts.  Counting your blessings is a very healthy exercise to brighten your frame of mind.  When you realize how blessed you are, your mood is lifted.

We are all tremendously blessed.  You don't think so?  How about the fact you are breathing? Your heart is beating. Some didn't wake up today.  You have another day to celebrate life.

Think about the beauty that surrounds you. It's a wonderful world out there.  There is nothing as beautiful as the golden sun, blue radiant skies, white fluffy clouds and the green trees, grasses and flowers that are there for everyone's enjoyment.  Majestic mountains and soothing ponds and lakes, rambling rivers and mighty oceans are just some of beautiful landmarks found in nature.  God created a marvelous world and all can enjoy it.  Maybe the area you live in is not so beautiful, but I challenge you to find a place within driving distance where you can be close to nature.  It will refresh your soul.

How about the blessing that you can see?  You would not be able to read this post if you were not able to see, and moreover, you have access to the internet.  Many people in this world do not have that privilege.  Many cannot read.  Yet you are blessed to be able to read, not just blog posts but books, magazines, newspapers ... even God's word, if you so choose.

I have started you off with six blessings; now, take the time to count up as many more as you can.  You'll be amazed and delighted just how blessed you are!  Count them all, from the smallest blessing to best thing about your life. Write them down.

The next time you feel blue, read that list of blessings and be thankful.

  2. Amazing post! I enjoyed this so much. Everything you said is so true. I love the word blessing- it has the most beautiful meaning and makes me feel so thankful when I think of what it means to be blessed... I love what you brought out about the simple things that are really huge things that are blessings, like breathing or getting out in nature.

What a wonderful shot of upbuilding and encouraging positivity!

    Have a wonderful day :)

  5. Like I said on another post that featured blessing as B for A/Z, we truly are blessed. I remember one time contemplating writing a post about something that I was not happy with about work and as I was talking about it with my husband and composing it in my head, I was working in the kitchen trying to get some stuff put alway and then it dawned on me how blessed I was; I had no room to put food away since I had so much food to put away. It was very eye opening to me and I had to apologize to God for my complaining instead of my thanking.
