Ten Years Ago ...

2004 with my oldest daughter

Ten years ago, I was a wife, mom of three girls and a church secretary.

In 2004, all my girls lived at home.  They were 18, 11 and 10. I remember going to a lot of softball and basketball games.  I did tons of laundry and baked many many desserts. I chauffeured the girls to church, sports and school events. I'm hoping the time I poured into my girls was special to them.  I know I treasure each and every memory.

Fast forward ten years ...

Now, I'm a wife, mom, mother-in-law, empty-nester, and soon-to-be grandmother ... of twins! I'm a church secretary at two churches, a worship leader, a bible lesson teacher, board member and writer.

I have grown as a person, both spiritually and mentally.  My interests have expanded and so have my responsibilities. (I'm reminded of the book, "The Prayer of Jabez," which discussed praying that my borders would be enlarged.  My prayer was answered - I've been trusted with more.) I've learned to prioritize and organize.  I learned to surf the net, Google, pay bills and shop online. More importantly, to me,  I began my career as a blogger in 2008 and still have plenty of ideas just itching to be shared in a post.

What will the next ten years bring?

Mama’s Losin’ It

This post was written in response to Writer's Workshop prompt 1.) Find a photo of yourself taken 10 years ago and display it on your blog along with a current photo. How have you changed since the day that photo was taken?  One noticeable change is that I went from blonde to brunette ...

  1. Hi,

Ten years ago, my daughter was just one. I had two daughters from my husband's prior marriage, ages 12 and 9. Time sure flies. Both my step daughters are grown, the oldest is about to turn 22 in April. She has two now, 4 year old daughter and about to be 3 son. Lots have happened. God has been good. I am so happy to see how much progress you have made in the last 10 years. Nice to meet you too.

  2. A great post that helps us get to know you a little better! You have really grown. I heard today on the radio that a Christian should be learning more about God every day. We aren't saved and suddenly know it all. We gradually mature. I am thankful for that myself. I look forward to what I have yet to learn.
