F.F.F. - 01.17.14

This week has been crazy-busy with nary a moment to catch my breath.  Still there are always favorites to report:

1.  Fun at Work:  Although the beginning of a new year entails a lot of work - reports, new budgets, cleaning out files - I love it.  It really appeals to my organizational tendencies and I love playing with office supplies.  This week and next, working is a little more challenging than usual.  Decades-old carpet is being ripped up and being replaced by new laminate flooring.  I work to the tune of grinding noise as scrapers take up old GLUED carpet. This job calls for big guns, so an electric machine (sorry, don't know the technical name) is being used.

2.  Fun at Bible Study:  This week I had the honor of teaching the bible study on 1 Peter 1 and I introduced the S.O.A.P. method of bible study.  ( The S.O.A.P.  method encourages you to take each passage of Scripture and write down Observations about it, and then discuss ways to Apply it to your life, finishing with Praying about what you've learned.)  There was positive feedback and interest which always is a highlight.  Another highlight was that I was well-prepared since I had worked earlier in the year on this passage of scripture.  One less thing to worry about in this busy week.

3. Feeling of Accomplishment:  I've written about this before but it bears repeating,  Crossing things off my to-do list makes this slightly obsessive writer feel great!  Although this week has been crammed with activity, realizing that I am making head way on my list gives me the push I need to keep going.

4. Friendship:  On Saturday, we had "date night" where we double-dated with our friends Wayne and Glenda traveling to our favorite pizza place.  We each had our favorite "Saluki Special" a supreme thin crust pizza with extra diced apples on top.  We all agreed it tasted better than ever.

5.  Favorite quote during this time of year when I'm tempted to go crazy setting goals:

“When you say yes to one thing, you are saying no to another.”
… seen on Morganize with Me

Priorities, people!

And so ends another week on the Journey.  What was your week like?  Leave a comment or link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. My work has been pretty much the same. Packing up old files, Year end reports, making new files...

Seems like there were lots of date night this week. :)

Your Bible study sounds awesome! Great scriptures!

Your quote makes me think about Mister telling our congregation, "there are only so many hours in a day. When you take on something new, something else must suffer"

    True, very true!

  3. That wouldn't easy trying to work with that kind of noise in the background. You'll be glad when they're done!

Good for you getting all organized and efficient - it's a good feeling.

I like that Bible Study method. And that's a favourite passage of mine.

Apples on pizza? That sounds novel - I like them both so I'd give it a try :)

    Happy weekend!

  4. "Priorities, people!" - Love it. I am always reminding myself (because it NEED to) of the one-to-one trade off too.

While pushing my granddaughter in a stroller yesterday we saw many things, one of which was an Office Depot. I explained to her the appeal of this store and how I hoped she too would LIKE office supplies.

How awesome that you are getting things done and having the pleasure of crossing them off the list.

    Have a great weekend, Jerralea.

  5. Wow, that's a lot going on in the week with added cacophony for good measure! What a bonus to be extra prepared on a passage that you were to teach. Getting things done feels so rewarding. Well done!

  7. I remember you mentioning the SOAP acronym before. Sounds like a wonderful way to journal and go through scripture making it very real and personal.

Double date nights with friends are so much fun. And that pizza sounds very different.

  8. That's a great quote--I need to remember it.

I love making lists and marking things off, too. (and of course, DOING the things on the list)

  9. It's good to hear from someone that they enjoy their job. Many people are miserable in their workplace! Glad your Bible study went well. I've never heard of that kind of pizza, but a double date sure sounds fun! Hope you have a great week!
