Daybook: 12.09.13

FOR TODAY, MONDAY, DECEMBER 9TH

Outside my window...
snow, ice and slush everywhere.  28°  Brrr....

I am thinking... of how I started out last week wanting to have at least 3 days where I did not step a foot off my home-place.  Well, I received the desire of my heart.  I'm on day 6 of being snowed in. Be careful what you wish - it might come true!

I am thankful...another prayer was answered - that my power would not go out during the storm!

In the kitchen...a batch of chili.  Isn't that an appropriate dish to make for my hubby who is outside snow-shoveling?

I am wearing...dark blue jeans and my favorite turquoise top.  I've also put on warm fuzzy socks on my feet.

I am creating...a home office.  Curtains were supposed to arrive today ... let's see if that actually happens.

I am going...a little stir crazy.  Just knowing I can't get the van out of the driveway makes me want to go somewhere!

I am reading...the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.  Every so often, I like to re-read this series.

I am hoping... to be able to go to work tomorrow.  I have a financial report due.

I am looking forward to...spring!  As my buddy, Rev. Darrell Jones says, "Spring is only 102 days away."

I am learning daily how much more I have to learn.

Around the house...things are looking good.  I have to say I did everything I had on my to-do list when I started my stay-cation.  A closet has been organized, living room rearranged, desks moved to the office, a central place for all my albums and photos has been made, bookshelves in my bedroom have been cleaned and rearranged.  Most importantly, the freezer got cleaned out.  What a job that was! After all those things were done, I've kind of wimped out, reading and lazing on the couch watching all my shows on DVR.

I am pondering... why I seem to do better when I have deadlines.

A favorite quote for today... is a line from my old buddy, Winnie the Pooh:  "Home is the comfiest place to be."

One of my favorite things... animal prints.  I have brown animal prints in the living room, black and white zebra in the office.

A few plans for the rest of the week: hopefully some posting as my internet was down several days during the snow storm.  Also, hoping to get caught up and back on track at work this week.

A peek into my day...

  2. Hi Jerralea
Whenever you post the peek into your day on Mondays, I cannot wait to see if you are wearing your black pants. I have started to picture you like this in my mind. Oh, we have summer this time of the year and I have never ever experienced a White Christmas in all my fifty years!

  3. I hope that I get snow during my stay-cation! :) my family loves chili. The would eat it once a week if I made it throughout the winter months! I'm not quite ready for spring yet. Living on a farm we are busy from sun up to sun down (in the spring and summer that is a long time). So I enjoy the relaxing winter months!
It has been a lot of years since I read the Left Behind series. In fact so long that there weren't that many books in the series. But I have them all now and look forward to reading them...maybe this next year!
Sounds like you stay-cation was a productive one with a little down time too.
Pooh is one of my "best buddies"!

  4. Wow a stay vacation has turned into getting a lot done, organizing and re-doing. I'm good if I think of organizing my digital photos. All my photo books are organized (I'm a scrapbooker) however digital are a mess. Chili sounds good for this week, thanks for the idea.
Be sure to share pictures when you home office is complete.

  5. Hi Jerralea! I feel so bad that you are snowed in! Thank goodness you have provisions and are warm. That's much to be thankful for. And the fuzzy socks too!

Great job on all the cleaning, I'm kind of jealous. My house is a 'Christmas disaster' with greeting cards and wrapping paper all over the place. I'll get there bit by bit.

It was 5 degrees this morning, I think it's made it all the way up to 11. I am thankful for the heat coming out of my furnace.

Hope you can get out soon, and get that financial report done. Enjoy your day!

  6. I love the blue on your walls. And that sounds like quite the storm. It's getting colder here but the sun came out. We've not had snow but RAIN for many, many days. Hope you get out and about soon.

  7. Snowing in sounds like it would be fun! I hope you and your family are okay though... my Grandma is from Colorado and before she started snow-birding in Texas, she would get snowed in all the time.

That feeling of getting everything you wanted to do done is so wonderful. It is truly a reward to relax afterward.

Love your quote. Winnie the Pooh has some of the most wise and sweet quotes.

I hope you have a blessed evening!
