Daybook: 09.03.13

FOR TODAY, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

Outside my window...
  beautiful sunny morning, 69°

I am thinking...about some points that Pastor made in a sermon titled "Victory in Defeat." His point was when devastating things happen, hold onto God and look for victory because a) God has a plan and b) His plan is victory.  (See Jeremiah 29:11.  His plan is to give you a future and a hope!)

I loved this sermon because I have seen it come to pass in my own life.  Devastation happened in the form of the flood in 2011 that almost destroyed our home.  But good things came out of that flood, and our house is now better than before, and both my husband and I are stronger spiritually than ever before!

I am thankful...that God has promised He will never leave me! (See Joshua 1:5)  In devastation or in victory - either way, He is there.

In the kitchen... I'm going to try my pastor's wife's baked pasta recipe today.

I am wearing...black dress with a geometric print jacket in black, white and blue

I am reading... a new -to-me Ace Collins book, "The Christmas Star."  I've got another Ace Collins book waiting in the wings, "Jefferson Burke and the Secret of the Lost Scroll."  Ace is one of my favorite authors that I've newly discovered.

I am hoping... my Janae has a great day tomorrow - it's her birthday!  22 years ago I became a mom for the second time. It feels like it happened just months ago and yet she is grown and gone from the nest ...

I am looking forward to... vacation!  I'm having a staycation in mid September.  Family is coming from out of town and I will be off while they are here.

A favorite quote for today...

Tony Evans@drtonyevans
Sometimes God lets you hit rock bottom so that you will discover that He is the rock at the bottom.
… seen on twitter

Is your life built on the Rock?  There used to be a guy who would testify at my home church:  "I'm saved, sanctified, and standing on the Rock!"  There's no better place to be.

One of my favorite things...shopping at Hobby Lobby. I could spend hours in there.

A few plans for the rest of the week
: a little freezer cooking, cleaning out the fridge, and getting out a few of my fall decorations.

A peek into my day...

  2. This weather has been a welcome change to those extreme hot day! Sounds like an excellent sermon! I am the same way about any book store, I could spend all day in them! My daughter is 21 and I feel the same way, it was only yesterday she was our adorable little toddler! Nice to visit you again! Hope your staycation is a great one!

  3. Love this:
"a) God has a plan and b) His plan is victory. "

It's hard to believe it's been 2 years since your house flooded. I remember you writing about it at the time. How wonderful that you have seen good things come out of it!

Time with our babies does fly by, doesn't it? My youngest, Jenna, is 18 and out of the house too, and I can hardly believe it.

Staycations are good! Hope you enjoy it. Mid-September will be here before you know it.

Love that walking path. Wish I had one near my house. Jeff and I have been walking at night lately in the neighborhood. It's good, but a pretty path like that would be even better. :-)
