Everyone needs a place to belong. People look everywhere for a clique, an in-crowd,
somewhere they feel like part of a group.
I submit the best place to fit in is the church! Everyone needs a home church. A place where everyone knows your name. A family that notices when you don't show up and will check on you. A group of people to hold you accountable and pray for you.
I've been a member of three churches in my life. All three were a blessing to me. One I moved away from when I left home to get married. Another was the church where we were married, had our children dedicated in, and really got grounded in the word and in our marriage. The third church is where God has called us to minister using our gifts.
These churches have prayed with us, supported us, encouraged and kept us going. In time of need, they were there. Why, once, we needed a new roof badly and had no funds. Our home church and the church we now attend banded together and helped us roof our home. The men of both churches came and ripped the old roof on and shingled the new. (It was their idea, we didn't ask for help.)
When the flood came, years later, offerings were taken and volunteers came to help us rebuild.
How do people get by in the struggles and stresses of daily life without belonging to a church family?
I say, the church is a blessing. If you don't have a church home, search diligently until you find it. And then, determine to be a blessing using all your energies. The church is close to God's heart. It is His bride!

So true Jarralea! There's nothing quite like a church truly focused on Christ to offer that sense of belonging. I find it's among fellow believers that I can belong even with people outside of my age group or stage of life. When Christ is the common denominator, other differences don't seem to matter nearly as much.
ReplyDeleteHi Jerralea! What a great thing that your church has been a supportive place for you to belong. That is what church should be!
ReplyDeleteI pray that everyone will feel that wonderful feeling of belonging to God and to his people!
Happy Friday!
