Take Me Away

Ever hear that commercial where the busy Mom says longingly, "Calgon, take me away!"

Sometimes, you'd just like to get out of the stresses of every day life.  Perhaps you'd like to get out of the daily rat race.  Check.

Or get out of trying to figure out how to make that budget stretch to include all those unplanned and unexpected needs.  Check.

Or get out of a sticky situation where someone's feelings were unintentionally hurt and it's hard to decide how to make things better.  Check.

If only you really could spend time in a bubble bath and emerge ready to take on the world!

What really works is spending the time you'd normally be using to take that bubble bath and bringing your stresses to the feet of Jesus.  He has promised to take on our problems and make our burdens light. As  a dear old saint, Rev. Ellston Chapman, once said, "There is no problem that can't be solved in the presence of Jesus."

Maybe you have an unusual stress:  a loved one has a medical emergency, a job has been lost or maybe you've received a diagnosis of an illness you never thought would come your way.

Escape is an idea you longingly embrace. You'd like to be saved from an impending situation. Instead, pray that you will come through the situation in such a way that God will be glorified.

Don't give up!  Our Lord will deliver - when the time is just right. You have His word.

Psalm 34:19

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
19 Many adversities come to the one who is righteous,
but the Lord delivers him from them all.

Delivered from all afflictions, in due time...

In due time.

  1. Yes, it's the due time part that I really need to remember!
