Thankful for Technology

I'm thankful to live in an era where technology is so readily available.

What advances have been made over the years!  My very first job was to type income tax returns on a manual typewriter.  I'm so thankful to have graduated first to the IBM Selectric typewriter and then to the computer.

I'm not sorry to see the last of carbon paper, white out, and those awful old duplicating machines with the purple ink.

Nowadays, I am surrounded by technology everywhere - copy machines, digital cameras, remote controls for everything, fax machines, scanners, iPads, iTouch, iPods, and of course, iPhones.

However, my favorite tool of technology is the internet.  It has revolutionized my life.  The internet helps you to have information at your fingertips - no longer do we need dictionaries, phone books or encyclopedias.  Their information can be found online for free!

Now, thanks to the internet, you can correspond almost instantly with anyone in the world, watch movies, hear music, share pictures - the possibilities are endless.

Of course, my favorite internet activity is blogging.  I do still dream of being a published author, but I still get to hit that publish button at the top of every blog post!

All during the month of November, I will be sharing my gratitude for all God has given me. I'm joining Joyful Reader on her Giving Thanks Challenge at her blog, Encouragement for Daily Bible Reading.

  1. Oh IBM Selectric, how well I remember you. . . I had one that was non-correctible and I had to slide in those little white slips and type on top to remove mistakes, remember those? So glad for computers now :)

  3. P.S. The one thing I loved about the Selectric was if you typed really fast, it sounded like a machine gun.

  4. Nita, another cool thing about the Selectric is that you could actually change fonts. I remember that is the first time I saw a script font. I was, like, in awe!

  5. I forgot about that! You could swap out that metal ball for a different one!
