1. It was back to work for me on Monday following my week off. Usually, I dread going back to work because there will be stacks of paperwork to catch up. However, this time the week went very smoothly, even though it was newsletter week. I give God praise for helping me get back into routine.
2. One thing that made this week pleasant was my two CDs I purchased of Travis Cottrell leading worship. I played them constantly while at the computer. The CDs had some great songs on them: "Travis Cottrell, When the Stars Burn Down" had my new favorite song, "O My Soul, March On" and "Travis Cottrell Live" had "In Christ Alone," in it's line-up. After listening to them, I've got new favorite songs, like "I'm Changed."
There's a dead man in the grave beneath my name
It reminds me of the day my life was changed
Now it is not I but it is Christ
Living in me, oh
I was lost but now I found where I belong
I could never be the way I was before
Now it is not I but it is Christ
Living in me, oh
Living in me, oh
I'm changed because of You
I'm changed because of You
I'm changed because of You, Oh Lord
I'm changed because of You
I'm changed because of You
I'm changed because of You, Oh Lord
This is the life that I now live
This is the life that I now live
This is the life that I now live
I live by faith, oh
(Written by Jeffrey Smith)
Those lyrics so meaningful. I guess because my goal is to be a wordsmith that lyrics and quotes really mean something to me. I love that first line, "There's a dead man in the grave beneath my name." Friends, I have to ask you, can you say that as well? Did you die to self and now Christ lives in you?
If so, you are living a glorious life by faith!
I didn't say easy, I said glorious ...
3. On Wednesday, it rained. We've been really dry here, so the rain was a welcome gift. My hubby noticed a double rainbow so he tried to capture it on film:
You can't really see the second bow, but it was there. So neat that this happened right after we discussed last Sunday in Sunday School about covenants.
Genesis 9:13-17 (HCSB)
13 I have placed My bow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 Whenever I form clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all the living creatures: water will never again become a flood to destroy every creature. 16 The bow will be in the clouds, and I will look at it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all the living creatures on earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have confirmed between Me and every creature on earth.”
All these many years later, the bow still comes in the clouds to remind us how faithful He is!
4. Favorite Meal: This past Sunday, I had the urge to have homemade chicken and dumplings. I got out my Aunt Willa Fern's tried and true dumpling recipe and gave it a try. Finally, after all these years of trying, I felt I came close to her dumpling perfection! This time I divided the dough up into 5 portions and rolled each one out as thin as I possibly could. Made all the difference! (I like THIN dumplings.)
5. Quote of the Week:
Your words can permanently influence a life.
Jerry Falwell
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV
People don't need criticism or condemnation; they need to be lifted up!

ReplyDelete"I didn't say easy...I said glorious!" That's for sure. Sounds like you've had a great week. Any week punctuated by good music is wonederful.
ReplyDeleteIn my OT class, we talked about the flood today. Wow. There's so much there to dig into! Have a great week.
Back to work is always tough when one has been off. Glad it went smoothly for you.
ReplyDeleteA good worship CD can make all the difference. Putting those in when my mood and attitude are not good really changes my perspective.
So nice you got an easy transition back to work. Sometimes life is easy AND glorious ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut that double rainbow must've looked glorious indeed -- especially when you've needed rain.
It's great that there are people who can write lyrics to make us think and encourage us in our walk.
Stunning rainbow! Only God can do that!
