Friday's Fave Five #111

This week was another unremarkable week, yet there are always highlights, or favorites, to be found.

1.  Yellow kitchens:  What can I say?  I love bright sunny yellow kitchens. It goes well with my sunflower obsession. A few weeks back, I shared how I had found the perfect curtains for my kitchen. I was asked to share a picture of them, so here they are:

The print on the ruffle features sunflowers.  When the blinds are open, it makes the kitchen so much lighter, which is needed because my yellow walls are a VERY yellow color, as you can see below:

Yellow just makes me happy!

2.  As I mentioned last week, I was scheduled to have part 2 of my makeover.  I got highlights in my hair with two colors instead of one.  I don't have a picture yet, because when I take pictures of myself, I always seem to hold it where it highlights my nose. (See my profile pic!)  I really do not have that big of a nose, so I decided to wait until I can get someone else to take my picture.

I don't understand why it is, but I cannot seem to convey what it is that I really want done with my hair.  This time I had a picture of what I wanted, yet somehow, the end product was not what I envisioned! I do still like it, though.  Maybe someday, I'll have the dream hair-do!

3.  Someone else to cook dinner:  I mentioned this in my Daybook, but it is worthy of being a highlight here as well:  My oldest daughter cooked dinner for me on Monday.  What a blessing it was to come home (after a hard day at the hairdresser's) to a meal already cooked (and the kitchen cleaned up)!  I just fixed myself a plate and then sat down and enjoyed a leisurely meal.  It was awesome!

4.  Keeping up with Karyn:  This week, I've been enjoying reading Karyn's posts about her trip to Zambia.  It's very interesting!  I know one thing, I'm thankful that I'm not called to go there! (Remember my aversion to sweating.) But I'm glad and thankful that Kathryn and Vinj are! Go to Karyn's blog, Musings from Me, and check it out!

5. Quote of the Week:  "If men and women were surer of their God there would be more genuine manliness, womanliness, and godliness in the world, and a whole lot less fear of each other. " ~Elisabeth Elliot

It all comes back to trust ...

  1. Love your curtains! I LOVE Sunflowers as well! :) My Mama would love a yellow kitchen!

I always do the same with my hair. I know what I want, but can't convey it to anyone lol

It is nice to have someone else cook for you! :)

  2. Your curtains are ADORABLE!!! I LOVE them! And our kitchens are VERY similar color!

You know... sometimes getting what we WANT with our hair is simply not POSSIBLE. Sometimes it is the fault of the HAIR itself and not your explanation OR the hair tech's procedures! I have tried SEVERAL times to get streaks or "frost" done to my hair... my RED hair just simply won't TAKE it. It will only take a very teeeeeeny tiiiiiny bit of the color - no matter how long we leave it on! I've tried darker darker darker shades and lighter lighter lighter shades but it always comes out EXACTLY the same - barely noticeable! SO frustrating! And as for CUTS - psh! My curly hair ONLY does what it wants to do and doesn't care a BEAN about what I want! I have finally given in to the fact that God made my hair the way HE wanted it, and He is simply NOT willing to have ME mess with it! :)

  3. Your yellow kitchen looks pretty, especially with the contrasting blue!

Someone to cook dinner--and clean up--is a blessing, indeed!

  4. Your kitchen looks so pretty and cheerful. It’s so hard for me to get my hair done right, too. I show a picture to my hairdresser of how I want it to look, but it never turns out the same. I’ve about decided it’s my FACE I want changed. Ha.

Ooh, definitely a blessing to have dinner cooked and kitchen cleaned for you. Nice! The E. Elliot quote is so true; something I need to think more about.

I also love yellow kitchens - esp ones with blue accents. Are you surprised? LOL

I'll look forward to photos of your new 'do

  9. It's always difficult to convey what we want done with our hair. I love your yellow walls. The blue of the plate against them looks so cheery.

  11. Love that quote.

Such sweet curtains. Very cheery indeed!

I can never get what exactly I want with my hair either. I like it for a while and then I see pictures. Double highlights sound really nice.
