The Simple Woman's Daybook, September 6, 2010

FOR TODAY, LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2010

Outside my window
... a gorgeous sunny day, perfect for grillin' and chillin'

I am thinking...of the theme of last night's sermon, "God has Called you to Success Because His Word Promises that We are More Than Conquerors."  This sparked a lot of contemplation in my mind ... is this really true?  Here's the scripture: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." Romans 8:37

As with any scripture, in order to determine what it means you must read the whole context.  Romans 8 in a nutshell is telling us that if we are His child then everything works out for good and that we will end up as conquerors, no matter what the enemy tries to put in our way.

Good stuff!

I am thankful for...the blessings I've been given:  faithful husband, healthy children, interesting life.  I'm never bored!

From the kitchen..
. grilling out today:  BBQ chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad.  We're a meat and potatoes kind of family!

I am wearing
... my favorite blue jeans shorts, paisley top, and favorite sandals.  Too bad I can't dress like this more often ...

I am creating...finishing touches on my devotional for the ladies retreat.  I also have a little home decor project I'd like to do today ... we'll see.

I am going... on a mini road trip this afternoon.  We're going up into the hills where the cool breezes are.

I am reading...1st Timothy still. I'm ready for a new fiction book, I just finished Ransomed Dreams by Sally John.  It was very good and thought provoking.

I am hoping...to get five days work done in three days, then I'm off to my retreat.

I am hearing...peace and quiet.  How I love it!

Around the house... kind of the same as last week ... although my hubby did hang my curtains for me and it's all good.

One of my favorite things...changing things around at my house.  I love to fluff my nest!

A few plans for the rest of the week: getting ready for the retreat, getting things done so that nothing will be on my mind this weekend.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Our daughter, Janae, with her new glasses.
She had a birthday this weekend. She's now a young adult making a new life for herself.  She will be getting married on November 20.  Where has the time gone?
