Friday's Fave Five- May 29, 2009

It's time for Friday's Fave Five, a time to reflect and look back on my week.

1. As I've said before I love fresh flowers. Last Friday, I found this bouquet marked down to $1.99. I had to have them! Also, I wanted you to see my candlesticks. I picked these babies up at a yard sale and bought new globes to put in them. Total cost for the pair? $4!

2. On Saturday, my class had a barbecue at my friends' home. Here's some random shots of the group. Unfortunately, I did not get any photos of Michael and Merrie and me.

Pastor and Wayne

Steve and Kenton

Glenda and Paula

Carrie

Lisa

Thanks, Paula and Kenton for hosting us. You did an awesome job. Time with friends, priceless!

3. On Monday, Memorial Day, Jim and I took our bikes down to the levee around one of the small beautiful lakes in our area. We rode an estimated 6 miles. I took several great photos, but Blogger is being very slow today so I only had time to load two:

The levee road we were riding on.

Queen Anne's lace near the lake.

Riding my bikes AND getting some good photos, totally one of my faves.

4. Thursday was my oldest daughter's 23rd birthday. Elissa's birthday is always one of my favorite days because that was the day I finally became a mom after 10 years of trying! (Sorry, no photos of this event.)

5. Strawberries: All week, we've been feasting on strawberries. The girls have become hooked on strawberry lemonade. Jim's favorite way to enjoy these treasures is crushed over angel food cake. I like to simply dip the berry in sugar and munch. What's your favorite way to eat strawberries?

If you'd like to join us, visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and share your week.

  1. Oh, I love strawberries, too, and made strawberry jam this week.

But my favorite way to eat them is dipped in chocolate. Yum!

    I enjoyed your list!

  2. I love to read your FFF posts!

Your flowers and candle sticks are beautiful...love the table runner too.

What beautiful flowers you saw on your bike ride. God is so good!

My heart broke for you as I read about your daughter's birthday. Infertility isn't for wimps. :) Nine years and waiting...

In response to your comment on my blog, I am such a softie. Maybe because my mom's love language is giving gifts I am used to being generous. Even though we can't afford to buy things we have to give away, we can give away what we already own and seeing his smile was worth more than money.

I didn't want to have the garage sale, wanted to donate everything, but my girlfriend would have none of it! I think she wanted to spend the whole day with me more than anythig else. : So for that reason I am glad we held it!

  3. What a great list! Your table is just beautiful with those flowers and candles.

And that view on your bikeride almost makes me want to dust off the bike in the shed...almost! You are blessed to have that place to ride.

I have yet to go bike riding yet this year. But I really want to after looking at your great pictures.

The candlesticks are great. What a great deal for your lovely centerpiece look on your table.

  14. Wow, those are incredible pictures! I'm really awful at landscapes. I get a good one once in a blue moon, but for the most part I just don't have an eye for them. These are beautiful!
It's amazing that you had your baby after ten years of trying. I have a friend who has been trying for about seven years now and it's always nice to hear about someone who has overcome in that way. How wonderful.

And BTW, I'm sorry I haven't commented in a while... I've been really behind on my blog reading lately!

  15. I wrote this over on my blog, but wasn't sure if you'd check there so I'm writing it again here...

Thank you for the compliment regarding my pictures. Honestly, I consider myself fairly capible when it comes to portraits but I'm really no good at landscapes and I admire those who are. When I was looking at your pictures I was thinking about how I probably could have stood in the exact same spot and not have seen what you saw there. I love to look at beautiful landcapes, but I really struggle when it comes to composition of them. You’re a natural!
