Life interrupts but we still praise

Life has stepped in the way; and so I am behind on Praise Posts.

When we get knocked down, we get back up. We dust ourselves off and pick up where we left off when our plans were interrrupted.

In November I aim to share one scripture per day. I consider God's Word a gift; so I want to praise Him daily for a scripture that has spoken to me in the last year.

NOVEMBER 16

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2 CSB

Ever hear the saying, "they're so heavenly minded, they're no earthly good?" The intent of that saying is to remind us we shouldn't forget about the people we are doing life with; but I don't really find anywhere in the bible where it says don't be heavenly minded.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

I find in the Hall of Faith chapter (Hebrews 11), those saints were definitely heavenly minded:

"These heroes all died still clinging to their faith, not even receiving all that had been promised them. But they saw beyond the horizon the fulfillment of their promises and gladly embraced it from afar. They all lived their lives on earth as those who belonged to another realm.
For clearly, those who live this way are longing for the appearing of a heavenly city. And if their hearts were still remembering what they left behind, they would have found an opportunity to go back. But they couldn’t turn back for their hearts were fixed on what was far greater, that is, the heavenly realm!
So because of this God is not ashamed in any way to be called their God, for he has prepared a heavenly city for them." Hebrews 11:13-16 TPT

Live focused on your life with Christ. That is the main thing.

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2 KJV

So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. Colossians 3:1-2 MSG

Praise Posts 2021 are all about praising God for scriptures that are meaningful to me. Currently, I'm sharing each day a scripture that addresses our thought lives.

I'm sharing this post at Let's Have Coffee and Recharge Wednesday.

  2. It's good to set our minds on things above where we are seated with Him.

  3. With our minds set above, I think we actually become more productive or fruitful in our daily lives. A mind set on the eternal learns how to live each day to bring the Lord glory.
