Changing My Thinking

I am giving God praise for Romans 12:2. 

It's no secret in 2021 I have been fascinated with The Passion Translation, and it doesn't disappoint when it comes to Romans 12:2.

Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

It all boils down to our thinking.

I admit I'm fascinated by the phrase, "reformation." I looked it up and reformation means "making changes to something with the intention of setting it back on the right path."

How I think needs to be set back on the right path.  A path not determined by the culture surrounding me; because I think you would agree there is some messed-up thinking in the world surrounding us.

And how do we renew our minds? I think the whole chapter of Romans 12 helps us see things differently. We see we are one body working together in unity. We see how we are to treat one another; and at the end, Paul admonishes us to overcome evil with good. 

We don't get even. We don't payback. We look for something good to do.
