Looking for the good ...

In 2020, I wanted to concentrate more on joining my friends at Friday's Fave 5, as we make a habit of reflecting on five highlights of our week.

Last week was bonkers for me and I never did end up posting at all.

But one of the things I'm most thankful for is a fresh start every day - and week; so here is

Birthday celebrations: another birthday has come and gone and I'm grateful for another year with my loved ones. I am most blessed!

Eye exam: it was way past time to have my eyes checked. My left eye has gotten much worse, and for a time, I was frantic thinking the worst. But it is amazing what a stronger prescription in a lens can do. I can see again! I'm so thankful for life in a country where I can get new glasses in a day or less - or in my case two days.

The Word of God:  It's no secret how much I love being in the Word. This week, our class began a study in Isaiah. We study the bible by method of going over verse by verse, line by line; and so I fully expect us to take two years studying the 66 chapters of Isaiah. It is so rich!

Answer to Prayer: I've a friend who had a brain tumor. We've had people praying both in Illinois and Missouri. This week, God showed up big. Her surgery went fantastic. A tumor the size of an egg was removed. It was non-cancerous. Not only is she doing well, she doesn't need therapy and only had to stay 3 days in the hospital. God is good!

Memories: My fifth good thing actually happened yesterday morning. I was reminded of what precious memories I have. I remembered an encounter from a friend from long ago that still encourages me and motivates me to this day. (I wrote about it here.) Thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me of that divine encounter.

  1. Belated happy birthday! I'm glad your eye exam went well and a stronger prescription helped. Our church just went through Isaiah last year--such a rich book. Wow, what a blessing for your friend with the brain tumor. How neat of the Lord to remind you of a special encounter.

  3. Happy belated birthday and WOW!! praise God for that friend and the non cancerous tumor!! We just found out that a cyst my husband has had for a while is treatable with antibiotics and NO SURGERY NEEDED! God is good.
I'm reading through the major prophets this year...well....i have before chronologically but one of my 2020 goals is to read each major prophet and highlight/blog/journal the key things that stand out to me. I started with Jeremiah. I'm only on chapter 4 so not sure I'm gonna have success with this goal because I'm also leading a women's small group which requires a lot of prep!

You found some great things to be thankful for. (I'm also scheduled for a long over due eye exams.....haven't been in 2 years!!)

  4. Happy Birthday to you!
I think the absolute best that you wrote was about your friend NOT having cancer!
I had my eye exam today. I am so thankful for good health insurance and good eye care!
I studied Isaiah (Precepts) and yes, it took a LOOONG time. But it was worth it.
