Fearless Revisited Reminder

Face it, today's world is enough to give one nightmares. (Why DO people listen to the news right before bedtime? Seems like a recipe for night terrors for sure ...) It is a scary world we live in, but as a believer, we know that a fearful disposition does not come from God.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

I like the way the New Living Translation says it:

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

If you are bothered with fearful spirit, know it is not from God. Rebuke fear and dwell on the power and love God has given you - along with a sound mind. A calm self-controlled mind.

It does take self-discipline to not dwell on the fearful thoughts the enemy likes to plant in your mind. You have to weed out those thoughts and replace them with what the Master Gardener has said. (And how would you know what He has said if you don't read His Word? Just sayin'.)

Wouldn't the One who gave His life for you want to give you the gifts of power, love and a sound mind?

Be assured - God's got this!

  1. There's a reason I haven't watched the news in 20 years! It's unbiblical. It's based on fear-mongering and sensationalism. I find myself less anxious because I'm not filling my mind with bad news.

  3. Yep! will add this verse to my online course on hospitality - we are just plain scared to open our homes - maybe someone will find out how we really live! (: Thanks, Jerrelea. sue

  5. We need to dwell on the size of our God not the size of our problems, don't we!

  6. This was the exact verse that my son wrote down and put in his binder when he was going through some spiritual attacks. It gave him peace and assurance that God was in control.
