There is light ... Advent Reflections

Because He Came ... There is light in the midst of spiritual darkness.

John 8:12 (NKJV)

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Christmas is a time of light.  I love to go for drives and see the different Christmas lights that people use to decorate their homes.  This is also the time of year when candlelight is common in our homes, as well as decorated Christmas trees shining with hundreds of lights.  My favorite lights are the clear mini lights that look like stars shining when the room is darkened.

Did you ever notice that when a room is pitch black lighting a small candle will make a huge difference?  In the same way, when a person who has been bound by sin becomes a new creation and has the Light (who is Jesus) dwelling inside him, he can stand out like a beacon to the world.

Be a beacon - let your Light shine!

During the month of December, the Journey will be taking a hiatus. I'm adapting some of my 2012 series, "Because He Came" posts for your Advent reflections.

Short but sweet, these devotional thoughts pack a punch of scripture followed by the realization, "Hey! I only have this blessing because He came and dwelt among men!"
