And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Psalm 55:6
This journey Home is long and rough. Along the way, we get
tired.
T.I.R.E.D., I tell you.
We long for rest. Instead of being a traveler, an alien
passing through this world on the way to the next, we sometimes just wish we
could fly away.
I can certainly relate to these feelings. The endless chores and responsibilities of Wife, Motherhood, MiMi-hood, homemaker, writer, administrative assistant and
church leader sometimes feel like too much weight to carry.
Especially, when all you hear on social media is negative,
which adds to the mental load one carries. How terrible those on the political
right are, the left, and all those citizens stuck in between! Doom and gloom
everywhere you look
Oh, it seems like sin is running rampant through this world
and all I want to do is escape.
Fly me away!
However, there are bright spots to be found. I loved receiving Lesley Leyland Field’s
blogpost this week, 10
Ways the World is Getting Better. I read it out of curiosity because my first
thought was, “What planet is SHE living on?”
The truth is, where sin is rampant, grace can
shine just that much brighter.
God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. Romans 5:20 NLT
STOP (The end of Five Minute Friday writing ... but as usual, I have a few more words.)
We believers are the light of the world. The
darker it gets … the more we can shine.
Instead of flying away, stay and shine.

Linking up with Five Minute Friday, #FreshMarketFriday, and the first ever of Mary Geisen's continuation of #TellHisStory. (I know, I'm fashionably late going to Mary's but better late than never, right?)
"Especially, when all you hear on social media is negative..."
ReplyDeleteSo true. But most of it is lies and propaganda anyway.
I am going to click on your friend's article. I'm curious! Ten ways??
I love that you shared a positive post to offset all the negative we are bombarded with daily. Thank you for not just talking about being positive, but putting your words to action! I like your perspective!
ReplyDeleteThank you,
~Lisa
Hi Jerralea, I love how you shared what so many of us are feeling and then you pointed us to grace. Amen for grace. Now I'm going to click on your friend's link because I also wondered what planet she lives on. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings ~ Wendy

ReplyDeleteWhere sin is grace abounds more. I do need to really remember that on a daily basis.
