AmaZing Nourishing Love

When we started out on our journeys, we were young in the Lord; really, we were just babes. So much we didn’t know or comprehend! Our Guide has been protecting us, leading us in the right paths, sometimes even carrying us, if need be.

Save Your people and bless Your heritage;
nourish and shepherd them and carry them forever.
... Psalm 28:9 (AMPC)

Each winding path, each mountain to climb, each bog or swamp we were forced to tip-toe across was there for a reason. If only our eyes could have been opened to see the many times He protected us from enemies! Our sight was limited to the natural, not the spiritual.

When we become believers, we are grafted into the body of Christ, which is the church. As Saint Paul taught us in Ephesians, Jesus takes care of that body. He nourishes it. He protects. He cherishes – which means He causes to grow up to maturity.

For no one ever hated his own body,
but [instead] he nourishes and protects and cherishes it,
 just as Christ does the church
… Ephesians 5:29 AMP

Responsible child-raising requires a lot of things: basic needs such as food, water, shelter and rest, love, affection, boundaries, discipline and security. For a child to grow to become a well-adjusted individual, he needs to know he is loved and cared for and that he is safe under his guardian’s care.

The believer also needs all these things to become a mature believer.

A mature believer is rooted and grounded in Christ. He knows all about Christ and no one will sway him off the path Christ has set before Him.

He will make it to his forever Home because he has determined to do so; and, because Christ has determined to never leave or forsake the believer!

It’s pretty AmaZing …

  1. So true and what's so amazing is that He never stops teaching me things! Which I'm desperatly needing.

  2. I love the analogy between what parents provide and what the church should provide--all too often, churches don't act as nurturing bodies.
