Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
... Psalm 136:1
We started the month out praising God because of His enduring mercy, but today we see why He is so merciful - because He is good!
Many of us have the idea God is an old man sitting on the throne with a scepter ready to bop us over the head the minute we get out of line.
The best way to replace such ideas about Him is to study His attributes. See what His word says about Him. (November's Thanks-Living posts will be doing just that!)
He is good. There is no darkness in Him at all. He always does the right thing because He is pure and holy.
Not only that but the Word tells us He is good to all.
All means you. All means me.
If you've taken the step of faith to become a believer, you can also claim the promise that not only is He good, but He promises to work everything out for good.
You can seriously trust Him.
And that is a reason to give thanks!

This is Day #3 of prompts from 30 Days of Thanks-Living. You can see the entire list at Crystal's An Invitation to 30 Days of Thanks-Living. Crystal invites you to join her on Facebook, but I wanted to write about each scripture. I'm linking this post at #FreshMarketFriday.
