Finally! A F.F.F. and Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday!

It's been awhile since I've been able to participate in Susanne's lovely meme, Friday's Fave Five, where we list at least five highlights from our week. I totally love treasure-hunting for my five since it reminds me how blessed I am with this one beautiful life God gave me.

1.  Time off! I'm at home today writing this in my office. This is the second weekend in a row I've had Friday off and I am so thankful to have occasional days off. It brightens my world! I get all my work done on Friday and then Saturday I have a little breathing space to just do something I want to do. Last week, I did something I've been wanting to do - create a coffee station in my kitchen - and we went on a mini road trip (the last time I visited FFF I thought I was going on a road trip but life intervened!).

Tomorrow, we hope to go on another little mini road trip, so today I'm home doing the chores which leads me to my next item of blessing:

2. Laundry! I'm a do-all-my-laundry-once-a-week gal, and as I was setting the timer for load one to go into the dryer, I thought, "I'm so blessed to have these clothes to wash AND to have a nice washer and dryer to use."

Considering my love of fashion and my plethora of tops, this is a great blessing indeed.

3. Loving the Spring weather! Our temps have been hovering in the 70's which is my favorite temperature. I'm just sure heaven will be 75° eternally!

4. The twins are growing daily and their vocabulary is growing, too. It is so fun to have conversations with them. They are very polite and always say "please," "thank you," and "you're welcome." When they say, "Thank You, MiMi" in their little sing-song voices, I want to give them the world. Do you think Our Lord feels the same way?

One of the little habits we have found ourselves doing is giving the twins a few pieces of dried papaya when we are getting them ready to go home for the night. (It's because PaPa likes to snack on trail mix and he DOESN'T like papaya.) Now, when we are picking up toys prior to taking them home, they start to ask for "'Paya?" over and over.

On Wednesdays, we have so far to drive to our church that we leave the dinner table before the rest of the family. Baylee will begin to ask, "MiMi go to church?" I cannot describe in writing how she says "church" but trust me, it's adorable.

Nowadays, when Baylee pretends to take her "catapiller" pull-along toy for a walk, she says, "I go to church." She circles the room, then announces, "I back!"  Aww!

5. Quote of the week:  Holy Week has been on my mind, as I'm sure it's been on yours. Yesterday, I was focusing on Jesus washing the feet of the disciples - including Judas! - as I was writing my post, Setting the Example in Love. As so often happens when a topic is on my mind, almost the next thing I ran across in my studies was a prayer on the same subject.

A prayer for Holy Week by Origen (c. 185–254):
Jesus, my feet are dirty. Come even as a slave to me, pour water into your bowl, come and wash my feet. In asking such a thing I know I am overbold, but I dread what was threatened when you said to me, “If I do not wash your feet I have no fellowship with you.” Wash my feet then, because I long for your companionship.... Like Peter, I say, Lord, wash all of me!

And that wraps up the last few weeks here on the Journey. How did your week go? I'd love to hear all about it. Leave a comment and share, or consider linking up at Susanne's place, Living to Tell the Story.

  2. He is Risen! Love the photographs of the blooms beginning to open where you are. We have most of the leaves back on the trees. Even the later ones are starting to bud. Yippee. How much fun you must be having with the twins. Our son is getting married in June and my husband already said something like wanting grandchildren so he could get back to Disney World. Nothing like scaring a future Daughter-in-law.

  3. Nice to have a couple of Fridays off in a row! I am so thankful for washers and dryers - my washer was having problems a few weeks ago, and it was such a blessing to have it working right again. We've had lovely weather this week, too. The twins are at such a fun age!

  4. Oh extra days off is wonderful!
I too am so thankful for my washer and dryer, having lived for YEARS without one and doing laundry by hand. I might have kissed my washer when we returned to the US.
    Your grandtwins sound so adorable!
    Happy Easter (yesterday)!

  5. I am on Spring Break from teaching for the week and so I"m just now getting around to all the FFF.I was actually in NH at the University/Durham with our youngest on Good Friday for Accepted Students day and before that dealing with the death of my dad so the FFF just didn't get done.

How fun the twins sound ....I love that late toddler stage where all the language starts happening fast. How cute that she pulls her toy around pretending to go to church..I love it!!

I hope to be back in the blogging world this week...have a good one!!

  6. It's looking beautifully springish where you are. Toddler talk is the best. I get so many chuckles from my dayhome kids at that age when they talk. I too am soooo thankful for washers and dryers. I'll just say God knew what he was doing when He didn't make me a pioneer girl and we'll leave it at that! LOL.
