The Morning Page: 01.09.17

This morning, I am remembering what a great sermon I heard yesterday regarding Daniel 3 and the story of the three Hebrew children.

My Pastor's wife conveniently Facebooked the outline of the sermon:

The statement that resonated with me most is #3, Declare your faith in the God in the FACE of your fiery trial.

There is just something about positive confession! It not only shows the enemy you are not backing down but it strengthens your own faith to hear your faith-filled words.

If you are what you think, then think faith-filled thoughts whenever feeling weak or afraid, and then speak it. God honors faith above all else.

Speak it, then watch for victory.

Other thoughts on my mind: the 2017 debut of The Loft Christian community link-up this coming Wednesday, January 11. We will be discussing our five goals for 2017. Only have three goals? No problem, tell us about your three! We would love to have you join us.

Also, you might want to join in on the discussion over at Michele Morin's Living Our Days.  She will be discussing C.S. Lewis' book, Till We Have Faces, beginning January 12 through mid-March. I have not had an opportunity to read the book yet, but because I respect Michele's insight so much, I will be dropping by to read the discussion as much as possible.

And that's what's on my mind this morning ... what's on YOURS?

  1. I love this, Jerralea: "There is just something about positive confession! It not only shows the enemy you are not backing down but it strengthens your own faith to hear your faith-filled words." What's on my mind lately is Psalm 121...I'm getting ready to memorize it and fill my brain with the truths of God's strength!

  2. thinking about our sermon on patience in waiting. Our pastor shared some thoughts on the Path of Patience... Waiting---gratitude---Hope---strength. A process without shortcuts. Good stuff.

  3. So sweet of you to spread the word about the book discussion group. I'm certainly praying for wisdom as I write the post for next week! So much theology going on behind the scenes, and yet there's this amazing story front and center!
See you on Wednesday at the Loft!

  4. Declaring God... His Word over us is surely one of the most effective ways to build our faith and strengthen our heart. :) Great reminder!
