Weekly Wrap-Up and a F.F.F.

Today ends an interesting week here on the Journey.

First things first. I like to end every week with reflecting on the good things that made up life here on the Journey.

1. The first one was a big PRAISE JESUS moment. Yesterday, my daughter accidentally locked the car doors with the keys inside the ignition with the car running. We've all done that, right? But two things made it worse. One is that the only other set of keys to that car was in my son-in-law's pocket in Colorado. (We are in Illinois). But the other, crucial, factor was this: the twins were in their car seats inside the car.

What to do? What to do? We live in a small village - the nearest locksmith would have been miles away had we been able to track one down.

I'm receiving all this info via text messages, because, of course, I'm 15 miles away at work. I got on the phone with the fire department, my husband goes frantically to find the town handyman, who was not at home. Naturally.

Meanwhile, my daughter patiently talks Brody into reaching over and hitting the unlock button. Over and over again until suddenly he understands what she wants him to do. And he did it!

My grandson is brilliant, don't you know? *Smile.

2. This week was birthday week. The twins' birthday was on Monday. They are now 2. Where. Has. The. Time. Gone?

3. Then on Thursday, it was Malia's birthday. Our baby girl is now 23. How is that even possible? She came over for dinner and cake, but I must really be aging, too, as I never once thought of taking a picture!

4. The rains have stopped and every day this week has been sunny. Thank you, Jesus.

5. In our Sunday School class, we started on 6 weeks of lessons on David. I love David, there are so many lessons in his story. I'm so thankful and humbled for the opportunity to partner with God in sharing David's story.

It's been a good week, last weekend was great, and I'm looking forward to another wonderful weekend (although it is supposed to be in upper 90s!) I'm also anticipating a great women's meeting on Monday at My Daddy's Cheesecake. I love these ladies ... and I love cheesecake. Sounds like a win-win for me.

Next week, I want to accomplish the following: research and start writing a teaching on James 1, get my capris out of storage and pack away sweaters, and maybe even print out some of my pictures.

And so ends another week on the Journey. How did your week go? I'd love to know. Leave a comment or consider linking a post of your own to Susanne's Living to Tell the Story.

  2. Oh my gosh with the twins in the running car! Your daughter was very level headed to stay calm through the whole thing and talk to your grandson explaining what to do. Shows that he is a good listener and trying to figure out what to do. Glad it all worked out!

I just finished reading 2 Samuel. David is such a fascinating person. He failed on some things but his heart was always in the right place (well 99.9% in the right place ) when it came to God. I think that's why he was the man definitely after God's heart. Now Solomon.....that's a different story.

  4. {{sigh}} I was holding my breath as I read that first one! :) I too love to study David. So many great lessons to take away from him. Yes, the rains have stopped and haying has begun. Now that we have some fields cut we could use a little bit of rain to water it back in.
    Here's to a wonderful Mid-western weekend! :)

  6. I’m glad you have a brilliant grandson! I was getting nervous just reading about the twins in the backseat! ha. Hard to believe they are two years old already. My baby girl is now 21; I wonder where the time went too.

James 1 is one of my favorite chapters! I know you’ll find exciting stuff there as you prepare to write.
