What? You too?

Today's topic at The Loft is "friendship."

When I think about friendship, there are two things that immediately spring to mind:

A man who has friends must himself be friendly,But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.(Proverbs 18:24)

That friend is Jesus!

and then, in the immortal words of C.S. Lewis:

“Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .” ― C.S. LewisThe Four Loves

When you find a person where you can share common ground, you are "kindred spirits," as Anne Shirley calls it (from the book, "Anne of Green Gables").

I'm always on the lookout for a kindred spirit that loves Jesus.

What's your favorite kind of friend?

Well, I see as I went to link up that our fearless leader, Leah Adams, from the Point Ministries, has written a post with quotes on friendship. Once again, we were of the same mind! I promise I did not read her post, so let's all go over and see if we picked the same quote.  You can find her link here, and the link up page for The Loft, a community of Christian bloggers, here.

  1. A faithful friend and a loyal friend is my favorite type of friend.

  2. I promise I did not sneak a peek into your post before writing mine. lol! You quoted the Proverb that I did. You are a beautiful dear person and glad I've come to know you as a friend - virtual - but still "friend". Blessings, Chris

  3. I smiled when I noticed that you and Leah are singing out of the same hymnal. I'm also a fan of that C.S. Lewis quote. Another good thing he says about friendship - to distinguish it from romantic love- is that both friends are facing in the same direction, often attending to a task or a common interest. So true! And I think it describes our blogging community, don't you?
