January 25 Daybook

For Today... Monday, January 25th, 2016

Outside my window... a typical winter day with no white stuff

I am thinking... since I've been dreading this day, I might as well have a change of heart and embrace turning 60 today.  It seems surreal to type the word 60 - I can hardly believe it - but I have to get used to the idea. So, why not decide to love it?

I'm going to make this the most enjoyable decade of my life and it is going to start with my attitude. I love my life. Yes, it is crazy-busy and even while I'm trying to let go of some stuff, there's more I want to do knocking at my door just waiting to get in.

And yet ... my one word for the year is Rest ... God sure has a sense of humor!

I am thankful... for making it to age 60 and all the things that have happened on my journey to get me to where I am today. Indulge me while I list some of the best blessings in my 60th year:

  • husband
  • great kids
  • the most adorable grandkids on the planet
  • health
  • home
  • my momma, sis and brother, and all the rest of our wacky extended family
  • my church home
  • my job and my callings
  • but most of all, my Jesus, who loves me and walks with me each step of the way, even when I mess up.

I am wearing... jeans, cognac boots, black 3/4 sleeve tee with a long beige sweater vest.

I am creating... soon, a new bujo (bullet journal) and I've a new journaling bible. I now have a plethora of colored pens, pencils and sharpies. It's time to create!

I am wondering... will this be the year I get it together? (I've only been asking that for like the past 30 years!)

I am learning... how much more I have to learn. I do love learning, though. I think we should all be learning up until the day Jesus calls us home.

In my kitchen... my favorite Slow-Cooker Creamy Spinach Tortellini Chicken Soup is in my crockpot right now!

A favorite quote for today... "You don't look like you're 60." (Of course, that is from my sweet church friends who love me.)

A peek into one of my days... birthday lunch with MiMi:

One of my favorite things... mushy birthday cards. Thanks, family!

So ... what are your plans this week?
