Daybook: 01.18.16

For Today... Monday, January 18th

Outside my window... cold and sunny. It's 9° right now with the high predicted to be only 20°. There is a possibility of snow on Wednesday!!! If so, it will be our first for the season.

I am thinking...of all that needs to be accomplished this week. It seems overwhelming ... the first part of the year is sooo full for me every year. I need to brainstorm how to keep this from happening to me and solve it by next year. What is it they say? Insanity is doing the same thing yet expecting different results?

I am thankful... for sleep and my nice comfy bed with it's sheets and fluffy comforters. I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again - "Thank God for creature comforts. So many don't have them. I'm grateful I do."

I am wearing...jeans with my cognac boots, brown tank and blue sweater with a brown chevron scarf.

I am going...to a Progressive Dinner this coming Saturday.

I am reading... not much reading going on - I'm trying to catch up with some stuff, so leisure time is on hold.

I am hoping...to get 'r done by Sunday!

In my kitchen... right now in the crockpot is chicken cooking for later yummies such as Chicken Salsa soup and Chicken and Rice. Tomorrow will probably be Crockpot Lasagna, and since snow is predicted on Wednesday, I'm planning on a big pot of chili for that day.

A favorite quote for today... another goodie from Max:

God meets daily needs daily. Not weekly or annually. He will give you what you need when it is needed. ~Max  Lucado

Why only daily? Perhaps He wants to see if we will learn to rely on Him and trust Him instead of our stockpile of blessings ...

A peek into one of my days... one year ago this month, I snapped this picture on a road trip to Columbus-Belmont Park in Kentucky:

A wintry blue sky can be pretty!

One of my favorite things... new pens. Staples had colored InkJoys on sale this week - this made me very happy.

  3. Hi Jerralea! Your boots sound so pretty!
I know what you mean about getting overwhelmed with schedules. My sister and her family were here this weekend, so I got nothing done around the house, or with writing. My brother and wife land on Wednesday from New York. Love the family time, it's gold. But...I think about all that work to do too!

I love my bed too, and it's so hard to get out of it, isn't it? Oy. I could sleep everyday until 10 I think, especially in the winter.
Beautiful photo of the park, and the winter sky. I love being out in nature, but winter does slow me up there. It's nice to see the water too...
    Tuesday blessings,
    Ceil

  4. Beautiful quote. Love Max Lucado. And new pens!

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, too, with the start of the new year. I seem to have missed falling back into routine, as it usually happens after the holiday.

  5. I don't know why your blog updates don't show up on the day you do them but a few days later. Weird.

I love progressive dinners; we did a few at a previous church we went to; lots of fun :)

Brrr on the cold weather! Nothing better though to warm up with but a bowl of soup or chili!

    betty
