Thankfulness Continued

Yesterday, I started reading, on my lunch hour, Max Lucado's "Glory Days."

Oh. My. Goodness!

I thought about having a hallelujah breakdown right there in the lunch room. I know I got chills and tears came to my eyes.

"The secret of survival in enemy territory? Remember. Remember what God has done." - Max Lucado

I look back over my life and I can see how God has been with me every step of the way. Oh sure, a lot of times it didn't feel like it. I couldn't really see it, but in hindsight? Oh yes! He was there.

And He is just as present in my today as He was in my yesterdays.

This tied in so beautifully with what I wrote in last week's praise post at The Loft:

God's brought me this far. There is no reason to think He won't bring me all the way Home.
In fact, He promised to be with me always.

But you see, Max reminded me about 2 Peter 1:3 - He called me to live for Him ... and then gave me everything I need to do it! And I already have what I need, if I'd just believe it.

Sometimes, He may bless by giving a want, but since our ultimate good is His aim, He only promises to fulfill needs. He knows better than me what I really need.

In this season of thankfulness, I can't think of a better blessing ... to know He will give me everything I need!

  1. Yes, He does give us everything we need in the moment we need it. I love that Max reminds us to remember...remember God's faithfulness. I am scribing the book of Romans right now in my quiet time and my verses this morning were Romans 8:35-39. Fits perfectly with the 'remember' theme. thanks for your presence here at The Loft. You add beauty and wisdom.

  2. Yes, I need to remember what God has done each day. I try to do this as I end my days -- to review the day with thankfulness. Sometimes it's the smallest things that come to mind. God is good.
Thanks, Jerralea, for your heart of gratitude.

  4. Amen! I've had moments like that when a song would come on or a thought would flood my mind and I would wish to be invisible so I could cry. Those are special moments.
He sure is good to walk with us and be there for us when we need Him. Amen!
