Daybook: 11.02.15

It is with joy I resume my regular blogging schedule. The 31 Day Challenge was a lot of fun, but I realize I need my weekends off to recharge and refuel.

Plus, I just missed participating in my favorite memes!

So, today I'm going back to one of the first memes I found when starting out my blogging career. The Simple Woman's Daybook is a great way to take stock each week on what your everyday life looks like. Life goes by in a blur, I've found, and it is good to stop the madness each Monday and reflect.

For Today ...  the first Monday in November

Outside my window... fog and dreariness - the price we pay for those glorious autumn days when the sky is a gorgeous blue and the sun shines on those trees full of colorful reds, oranges and yellows.

I am thinking... of how I love the Word. It's such an amazing book; I can read it over and over again and somehow see something I've never seen before. For example, this beautiful passage:

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.  Hebrews 2:14-16 New King James Version (NKJV)

Do you see it there? Have you ever felt in bondage to a fear of death? Take heart! He destroyed our enemy who had the power of death, but has it no longer.

I am thankful... that as a believer, I'm considered the seed of Abraham. (See Romans 4:16 and Galatians 3:29) He lives to bring me aid!

I am wearing... black jeans and flats, black and white tank with a turquoise cardigan.

I am going... to a girl cousin reunion tomorrow night. Can't wait!

I am reading... "Simply Tuesday," by Emily P. Freeman

In my garden... or on my front porch where my "container gardens" reside is a glorious last stand of petunias.  The petunias did so much better than my vincas did this year that next year I think I will make my front porch a bower of petunia blooms ...

In my kitchen... tonight will be my old stand by of Broiled BBQ Chicken because, well, MONDAY.  Somehow Mondays are hard for me to do any adventurous cooking. It's the first day of back to work, back to routine, and I feel I need to be good to myself.

Do you feel some days are harder than others to be creative in the kitchen?

A favorite quote for today... from the sermon of our guest speaker yesterday, Rev. David Meade:

"We tend to resist change more than we resist sin."

Ouch! I think he may be right ...

A peek into one of my days... a recent pic of these two:

One of my favorite things...

Candy corn!

From the board room... this looks good ... Smothered Chicken from Betty Crocker ... I would like to try it, because, well ... BACON!:

  1. Yum on that recipe! How cute with your grands :) They are growing indeed!!

Saturdays are really hard for me to get inspired for meals, so what we've been doing lately is picking up a frozen entree to cook or appetizers to make into dinner or a pizza; something light and easy :)
