O is for Orange Salad ... and Order

One of our family favorites we like to serve at holidays is Granny's Orange Salad. It's a great light and refreshing dessert after you have had so many other rich foods at a big meal.  It looks pretty in a cut glass bowl, too.

You can find the recipe here as well as read about my Granny who was a wonderful hostess. Her house didn't have to be perfect order for her to welcome you in and feed you at her family table. The main thing was you could feel the love.

I'm all about order. I think things go much smoother when everything is organized and in its place; however, don't let organization become a stumbling block to entertaining. If we wait for everything to be perfect, we will never practice hospitality.

Did you know God was a God of order? After all, He put the universe in place! He also will guide us in the path He wants us to take.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,And He delights in his way. Psalm 37:23 NKJV

A good man here means a man that is in right-standing with God. He will direct someone who is obedient and seeking Him in the way he or she needs to go. I've heard it said, don't worry if you take the wrong path, God is big enough to get you turned around and going in the right direction.

One less thing to worry about!

During April, I’m participating in the A-Z Challenge.  Over  eight hundred writers (as of last count) will be posting in various categories. Visit here to see a list of all the fantastic bloggers – a veritable smorgasbord of entries to feast upon!

  3. I am told hospitality is my gift. I would prefer that my home be in perfect order but if it's not I'm ok with it as long as my visitors are happy! I love having people in my home and loving on them. Even those who aren't so "loveable"... ;)
Thank you for this recipe!!!!!! my binder is getting bigger each week!

  4. I can't say I have ever had or even heard of an orange salad but it sounds yummy! It amazes me how ordered our world is by the hand of God. But I agree that we can't get hung up on order and perfection or we will never practise hospitality. Hubby's mom was like your Granny, not a perfect house but boy she had people over all the time, most times spontaneously. But no one remembers anything out of order but we sure remember being loved and welcomed into her home!
