P is for Pumpkin Chipotle Soup and Perfect Peace

I know that here in the Mid-west, people are thinking spring and anticipating summer's fresh veggies right now.  Getting out the soup pot is the last thing on one's mind. Spring does have some rainy cool days, though, so you still might want to try this wonderful chicken soup, Pumpkin Chipotle Chicken soup with Barley. (Okay, Edie calls it Chipotle Pumpkin, but hey! I need a recipe that starts with P.)  It is my very favorite soup and it comes from the kitchen of lifeingrace's Edie Wadsworth, otherwise known as "The Soup Whisperer."  (I just love that name!)

You should go here and read all about it, and when you've finished with that, read her whole blog. She is awesome and you will love not only all her recipes but everything she writes. You're welcome.

One note to the recipe:  I only use 2 C of chicken because that seems plenty to me, and I leave out the cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg because we are lame like that.

Don't leave out the chipotle, though.

Let's talk about things we should leave out in our lives - like worry.  I find that I tend to get anxious and worry when I've been focusing on the problem more than focusing on Jesus.

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV

If our focus is on Jesus, then we will be reminded of how much He loves us, and how everything will work out in the end to fit His plan for us. After all, if He gave His life for us, can't He be trusted to help?

During April, I’m participating in the A-Z Challenge.  Over  eight hundred writers (as of last count) will be posting in various categories. Visit here to see a list of all the fantastic bloggers – a veritable smorgasbord of entries to feast upon!

  4. Hi Jerralea! I'm not a pumpkin fan (except pumpkin bread, yum!), but I certainly like the idea of dumping worry. Out of my life and mind. I will certainly be more happy for it!
