Testimonial Tuesday # 6

Welcome to Testimonial Tuesday where we share stories of answered prayer ....

Your stories are important; and,

big or small,

We want to hear them all.

Make that, we NEED to hear them all.

I think one of the answers to prayer that God gets the least credit for is when we pray for physical safety.  We feel we are in a dangerous situation and immediately call for help. "Oh, Jesus, please help me. Help me get home safe."

I don't know how many times I have prayed those exact words. And He does help, and I do get home safely, and then blithely go about my life never thinking about the incident anymore.

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. Psalm 34:15 King James Version (KJV)

Last Wednesday, we had a cornucopia of weather conditions forecast: rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow and ice. It wasn't supposed to start until noon. I, being the risk-taker that I am, decided I could work until about 10:30 a.m., run by Wal-Mart to pick up some meds for my hubby, and still get home before the storm started.

Not.

At 11:15 a.m., I ended up driving home with pellets of ice bombarding my vehicle.  The windshield wipers began to freeze up making it difficult to see the road.  I only had to go about 20 miles in this stuff and you can bet I brought out my "help me get home safe" prayer.

Just wanted to let you know He helped me. Again.

God is good.

Now it's your turn. What has God done for you lately?

  1. That is so true about "forgetting" to thank God after we pray out for physical safety. I do know that when my son was younger (and a bit wild) I would always pray for his safety coming home and then when I heard or knew he was home, I'd say thank you Lord. Even when something terrible did happen (long story that gets mixed reactions when I tell it so I don't usually tell it), he still got home safe and I definitely thanked God after that and continue to thank him to this day.

  2. Oh yes, Betty, I certainly remember those days of praying until my girls got home safely. I had a couple really scary times with my kids. However I never mentioned those answered prayers at testimony time at church to protect their privacy.

  3. oh Jerralea, i am SO glad you had the protection of our Heavenly Father. God is GOOD. I just prayed Sunday afternoon that my oldest gal would get to her college friend safely in CT....about a 3 hour drive from our home here in NY. and she did!! Glory to God. (it was snowing lightly when she left). She said NO snow at all once she got past our town. My post is up even though it is very late in the evening on Tuesday. I'm sorry but after work I had many errands and dinner to prepare. And then I had to work on my Bible Study prep for Thursday night. But...it's up!! :)

  4. Faith, I appreciate you linking up whenever you can. It doesn't matter what time of day, you could even link up the next day if that is the way your schedule goes.

You always have a great word to share!

  5. There are so many times we have cried out to the Lord for safety in bad driving and weather conditions. It really brings peace to know the Lord there with us in those situations and has got us home safely.
