Notice Me

Today's word is NOTICE

I've shared before how my goal as a child was to grow up and become a spy. Television shows like "Get Smart," "Honey West," and "Man from U.N.C.L.E." all built this glamorous picture in my mind where all I had to do was look gorgeous, go to events and observe what was happening. It would be easy to discern who the bad guys were!

As I grew up, I learned I had an important quality lacking in a spy - no, it wasn't the ability to look gorgeous - but the simple fact I never noticed what was going on. I had no powers of observation!

I still don't, which kind of handicapped me from being the parent of teenage girls, but I digress.

Noticing what is happening is kind of important for a spy, a parent, or even a good friend.  Isn't it important that you notice a loved one is having a hard time?  And, of course, right on the heels of noticing should come some action.

We are a blessed people because no matter if our skills of observation are lacking or not, our God does notice and care.  I love this verse from Psalms that tells me that we, the ones who are in right standing with Him, are His focus:

Psalm 34:15Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)  The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry for help.

What a relief!  It doesn't depend on me, He notices me and what I am going through.

5 Minute Friday is now hosted by Kate at the blog "heading home." This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation.

Just write.

Also, the most important rule is that you visit the blog of the person who linked up before you and leave some encouragement.  That’s the most fun of all, and the heart of this community.

  1. Your FMF neighbor here. What fun to grow up wanting to be a spy. And yes those qualities would help with teenage girls!

  2. Really good post and so true. He sure makes up for our short-comings. BTW, I giggled at the thought of you wanting to be a spy like Maxwell Smart.

  3. Good post, Jerralea! I enjoy Agatha Christie's detectives - Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. They could walk in a room and observe things no one else would think of. Not me - I'd see the body on the floor and be out of there! But I digress.... I'm thankful that God watches over everything concerning me. Have a blessed day.
