Daybook: 09.08.14

FOR TODAY, Monday, September 8th

Outside my window... sunny and 63°. I love a day like this!

I am thinking... how things go much smoother if you take time to plan first.

I am thankful... for color.  Think how boring our world would be without it!

In the kitchen... crockpot chicken cacciatore.  This is a new recipe, so hoping my picky ones will eat it.

I am wearing... white capris and white tunic with a coral cardigan.

I am creating... a testimony.  Let me never forget that!

I am reading... "The Revealing" by Suzanne Woods Fisher (another Amish fiction book)

Around the house... a few bits of fall are here and there - my fall welcome signs are on both doors ...

I am pondering...
Psalm 134, one of the shortest chapters in the Bible, was written to priests on the graveyard shift: "Behold, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who by night stand in the house of the LORD! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD. The LORD who made heaven and earth bless you from Zion!"
… David Jeremiah, Turning Point Devotional 09/03/14
Are you in a graveyard shift in your life right now?  Are you putting in hours of worrying in the darkest hours before dawn? Instead of counting sheep, count ways to praise God.

A favorite quote for today...

FIFO, not GIGO - Rev. Tom Yates

Instead of garbage in, garbage out, fill your heart and mind with faith.  Faith in, faith out.

One of my favorite things... chilled grapes.

A few plans for the rest of the week: kind of the same as last week, "... finishing up the file system and doing some end of the month reports for my part-time church."  I didn't get too far last week ...

A peek into my day... the day was almost over at the lake last Saturday ...

The daybook is a concept created by Peggy Hostetler.  You can link up at her site, The Simple Woman.

  1. I'm not usually a fall person (it is a little depressing to me), but this year I feel more ready for it. Maybe because the summer has been so hectic.

I need to take your advice and spend more time counting praises. Been worrying too much again lately!

I love your picture; it looks like a scene from my own backyard (which reminds me I need to go feed the dog, hehe). Always nice visiting you, Jerralea!

  2. I like that thought of instead of counting sheep, count ways to praise God. I'll have to remember that on my insomnia nights.

63 degrees sounds so pleasant since we got up to over 93 degrees today.

I hope everyone liked the recipe!

  3. I enjoy reading Amish fiction and I have many, many volumes that my cousin has sent me to read. I have enough reading material to last forever! I love your quotes.

  4. I am really enjoying reading all the day books ! What fun! I am not in a grave yard season but kind of an isolated season. I stay home with a baby and my hubby is traveling a lot with hisjob right now. I think these help remind me that we are all more alike than we realize. I really love the "I am creating a testimony" it is so true and I will spend a little time pondering that. Thanks for sharing! Blessings , Lora

  7. I just had the sweetest chilled grapes I think I've ever had. Yum, yum, I'm with you! I'd love some 63* right now as we are sitting in the 30's. Brrr.

  8. I agree that things play out much smoother if you take time to plan first. It's difficult at first, to stay consistent with a daily schedule, but so much stress is avoided and that's always a plus :)

Hopping over from The Simple Woman's Day Book!
