Daybook: 08.18.14

FOR TODAY, Monday, August 18th

Outside my window... cool and overcast skies

I am thinking... of taking a week off in September to use as a staycation / get 'er done week. And maybe a whole day of doing nothing at the lake ...

I am thankful... that after December, I'm eligible for 4 weeks of vacation each year!!!

In the kitchen...oven baked BBQ chicken thighs - my favorite meal

I am wearing... black capris and black cami with a multi-colored striped tunic.  It sort of makes me think of Joseph and his coat of many colors ...

I am going... on a small road trip this Saturday.  I can't wait!

I am reading... "A Hopeful Heart" by Amy Clipston (Amish fiction)

I am hoping... and praying for my children and grandchildren. Let me always be the one calling out their names to the Lord.  (Everyone needs someone who will do that for them.)

I am looking forward to... seeing the answers to those prayers. I know God has a wonderful plan for each of their lives.

Around the house... STILL some things needing to be done.  Will I ever have a time I don't say that?

A favorite quote for today...

"I spoil my grandkids as best as I can - it's how I get back at my kids!" ...Ellston Chapman

That's my plan, too!

One of my favorite things...photos of the grandbabies.  I live for those.  Oh, you who live in the same town as your grandchildren, thank the good Lord for your blessings!

A few plans for the rest of the week: for months I have had on the to-do list about cleaning out my home files and implementing a new system.  I am going to start on it this week - yes, I am!  (Please hold me accountable to this goal.)

A peek into my day... this picture of Baylee and her daddy cracks me up!

  1. That is a cute picture of your grand daughter and her dad :)

  2. Great picture! It is a wonderful blessing to grow up in town with grandparents. After college we chose to move back close to home to give that gift to our parents and children. Now that my father is in a fight with brain cancer I am thankful we made that choice. a weeks vacation each season...makes me jealous (not really, but that would be nice).

  3. My Husband gets 4 weeks of vacation every year. It's such a nice perk to his job. Sometimes I think it's the only perk to his job!

Your Coat of Many Colors comment made me smile. My Mommy used to sing that to me all the time when I was a little girl :)

    Enjoy your weekend getaway :)

  4. I enjoy reading Amish fiction and I have a cousin who sends me all the books she has read on the subject. I have enough reading for the next few years! Enjoy your day trip this Saturday!

  6. Love that quote! Made me laugh. I've had my week of staycation to get things done. It's amazing what can be done with one of those.
