Finish Well

What's around the bend?
When you are in your fifties, you begin to think about how you are going to wrap this thing up. After all, few of us make it past 100, so you know you are on the downhill portion of the course.

Priorities are much different now than when you began. An adjustment of goals and dreams need to take place. The things you once thought important, now?  Not so much.

As I face eternity, it becomes more and more vital how I finish.

I want to finish well.

I don't want to be what I have seen happen so many times, a person who is just waiting to die. And even worse, someone who is bitter about the way life ended up.

I want to go out with a bang! I want my last years to be more and more productive.

What's my plan for finishing well?

I am standing on this Word:

"as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue" 2 Peter 1:3 NKJV

He will give me everything I need to finish well as I get to know Him more and more. That's it.  Just that.  If I focus more each day on knowing Him, it's going to end up okay.

Five Minute Friday

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Sounds like fun, yes?  If you want to join us, go to Lisa-Jo Baker.com.

  2. Jerrelea, I love your outlook! I'm a few years behind you, but I should be thinking about what "finishing well" will look like for me too. Loved your post today!

  4. Good thoughts to think about; I think we all want to finish well and leave a good legacy. I find myself wondering how did I get to the age I am? Where did those years go?
