F.F.F. - 07.11.14

Happy Friday to all!

I hope you have had a beautiful week and enjoyed some awesome summer days this past week. On Friday, I like to take the opportunity to reflect on the highlights of my week and then share with a great group of bloggers, the Friday's Fave Five crew.  If you'd like to do the same, you can link up at Susanne's blog, "Living to Tell the Story."

Let me get busy and share the blessings of the past week:

1.  Last weekend was Independence Day here in the USA which meant a holiday off work. I totally love days off and appreciate the fact I get this holiday off with pay!

2.  Of course, a day off meant a road trip.  We went way way back into the hills of Southeast MO. Beautiful but NARROW country roads are out that way.  I saw a lot of giant hay-bales laying in the fields waiting to be moved.  Our destination was Sam A. Baker State Park. The St. Francis River flows through the park. The main activity here, as far as I could, tell was tubing on the river.

This was one of the few shots I could get that didn't have people floating by!

I loved the little gate house at the entrance of the park!

As my hubby and I are not into tubing, we stayed awhile and then headed back towards Cape Girardeau. We wanted to make it by dusk to see their fireworks display.

3.  Along the way we stopped at a charming little park in Marble Hill, MO, Pellegrino Park.  (I wanted to check it out simply because I love a place named alliteratively!) Anyway, it turned out to be a peaceful oasis on a hilltop overlooking the town. NO ONE was there.  We went and grabbed some fast food and came back and ate there and killed time until time to head to Cape.  We relaxed lakeside for quite some time:

This calm water was like a mirror.  I thought of Anne Shirley naming such a pond, "Glimmer-Glass," in Anne of Green Gables.  I felt as if we had our own right there.

4.  Of course a post would not be complete without my mentioning our twinsies.  They were all dressed up for the 4th:

I was excited because this is one of the few times they both had their eyes open at the same time!

5.  Quote of the week:  I ran across this gem this week - you've probably already seen it, but it's worth repeating:

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. Martin Luther King Jr.

If it was easy, anyone could do it!

The rest of the week was the usual:  taking care of business and catching up on my to-do list.

And so ends another week on the Journey.  How was YOUR week?  Leave a comment or link up at Susanne's!

  2. The twins are so adorable! What a great place to go tubing if one was into tubing; I can see the youngsters or young families enjoying it.

Seemed like it was a good week for you :)

  3. Cute twinsies photo! We have the Rainbow River near me where people tube down it and it's quite a nice place. I'm not one to do that either but I love being near the water.

  7. Hi Jerralea! What a lovely day you had! I could just see you with your picnic at the park. Isn't it amazing that you were so alone in that big place? What a gift.
Thank you for the photos of the twins! They look so cute in their red, white and blue.
    Blessings,

  8. Love the quote. Day trips are so nice, a mini vacation without all the fuss of packing and planning.

Cute little 'firecrackers.' They are already changing!

  9. Twins = absolutely adorable!

Your fourth sounds like it was exactly what you love--parks and fireworks mixed with quietness.

    Have a great week!
