Daybook: 05.26.14

FOR TODAY, Monday, Memorial Day

Outside my window...I'm writing this late in the day and it is 86°.  I'm glancing out my window and seeing the red and pink roses glow with the sun shining its last beams for the day before dipping into the west.

I am thinking...of what a beautiful day it has been in a peaceful country.

I am thankful...to be living in a land where war is far away and for the men and women who gave their lives so I could make that statement.

In the kitchen...the remnants of our first grilling out of the season.

I am wearing...blue jean shorts, a comfy top and barefoot because I didn't go anywhere today, which qualifies today as being a slice of heaven for me.

I am reading..."And We Are CHANGED" by Priscilla Shirer

I am looking forward to...the new pastor who is coming to the church where I work full-time. I am ready to see some things happen!

A favorite quote for today...
"We have an unholy attachment to being entertained."             ...Travis Schroeder
So true!  No one wants to take time to just "be."  I'm reminded of an old saying, I don't know who said it, "Sometimes I sits and thinks and sometimes I just sits."  I think we all need some "sitting" time.

One of my favorite things...landscape photos.  I could look at them all day.

A few plans for the rest of the week: board meeting tomorrow night and yard saling Saturday.

A peek into my day...

Can you tell we love bright colors?

  1. That is cute that you like the bright colors! They look good on both of you! Seems like you had a wonderful day today enjoying the things you enjoy doing, staying at home and grilling :)

  2. Sounds like a wonderful day! It did rather hot and steamy here in the mid west! :)
I am so thankful that there is no war going on here in the US. We are fortunate in that!
Your quote kind of goes to what I was getting at last week. We don't go and worship as much as we are entertained. That bothers me... A LOT!

  4. Jerralea, I love the quote...it is so true, especially in this day and age. And I enjoyed your thoughts on sitting. My husband and I were just talking the other day how people are always keeping their young ones busy and never teaching them (by example and by words) to just sit for a while and listen to what is going on around them.

    Love your bright colors! :)
