Daybook: 05.19.14

FOR TODAY, Monday, May 19th

Outside my window... partly cloudy and 61° so far

I am thinking...  I heard of several people passing away in the last few days; yet, I'm hearing of new babies on the way.  I'm thinking of Carl Sandburg's words:

“A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on.”

Besides our grandtwins who will be born soon, I have learned we have a grand-niece or nephew who will come in November.  Congratulations to Bethany and Andy - and to the new grandparents, Jim's brother Carl and his wife, Mary.

I am thankful... for the time we got to be together with two of our three girls Sunday afternoon.

In the kitchen... a chicken in the crockpot ....

I am wearing... black capris - the first of the season, and my favorite animal print top.

I am creating...an example by living my life.  I try to remind myself all the time of that fact because I do not want to thoughtlessly lead someone astray.  I want to be a testimony for Christ.

I am reading... a new Dee Henderson book, "Undetected."  I so enjoy her books!

I am looking forward to... our Colorado trip.

Around the house... roses blooming - I'm loving it!

I am pondering...grace ... such a gift, and also a responsibility.  I'm thinking of the saying of Jesus, "For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required."

A favorite quote for today...(okay, so today, you get two!) I  saw this on Laura, from IHeartPlanner's blog:
Mark Twain, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.”
In other words, do the most unpleasant thing on your list first, and then the rest of the day only gets better from there!

One of my favorite things... soft breezes blowing

A few plans for the rest of the week: filing my sheet music, and continuing to organize supply cabinets at work.

A peek into my day...

These gorgeous roses are everywhere in my neck of the woods!

  1. so glad you got to spend time with your girls! treasured times! OH that living example is so hard sometimes. I have to remind myself that others are watching and that they need to see Christ in me! Great quotes! One made me contemplate all that the Lord has given me! The other made me laugh!
    Thanks Jerralea!

  4. How exciting to be having grand twins, as well as others in your family! Its the cycle of life, birth and death, they somehow seem to go hand in hand. Those roses are such a pretty color!

  6. Jerralea, I am excited for your upcoming trip! And it is always a blessing that mixed among the sadness of deaths there is a sprinkling of new birth! Twin grands on the way! Oh how exciting!

And I appreciated your verse of Jesus reminding us that who has been given much will have much required of him. Sometimes, I think we get so focused on the blessings that we forget how responsible it makes us.

Hoping you have a good week!

  7. Hi Jerralea! Where in Colorado are you going? My sister lives there. It's so beautiful!
I have capri's on today too. Finally it's getting warmer. And I bought a rose bush to plant too. I hope it takes root and blooms? Your photo is so pretty...roses are a beautiful plant.

Enjoy your Sunday! Having our children around is so much fun isn't it?
    Blessings :)
